I find it hard to judge Rocky's family harshly. They took care of him, he is healthy. They loved him enough to leave him in a place where he would be safe and cared for. They left a note so his name would be known and his date of birth. Many people just open the doors and kick out their animals. In these hard times, my bet is they did not want to do it but had to make a horrible decision. Bless them for their journey and bless Rocky for the new life he is about to start!

Yes I'm a landlord I wish I could allow pets however after allowing it a couple times, we had to do a total rehab to rent after those tenants left. The animals trashed the units because the pet parents let them I have dogs myself and I know it's a lot of work and it takes training to keep a puppy from destroying stuff. It was thousands of dollars to do those rehabs. So now we don't permit pets unless it's a service dog. This poor baby needs to get into a foster home. He is so sad and afraid and confused. He's lost! Wish I could help this baby! ❤❤❤

I hate when people judge owners that have to turn in their pets and say I would rather you be homeless than give up your dog. Some people have children. Some people have health issues that they have to put above all else. I hate that dogs or cats have to be taken to shelters, but thank God that they exist because some people just turn their pets loose outside and expect them to survive on their own. We have to have compassion for both sides.

This one hit home, I had to turn my dogs in when I was 12 yrs old, my parents filed for bankruptcy and I tried all I could to keep my 1 year old border collie Champ 😭 Animal Control came to pick up two of our three dogs. We found a friend to take our third dog but Champ was my pup, I was and still today cry about having to give him up, I wrote a note to his new potential owners hoping they would love him as much as I did. That was 28 years ago and I still wonder about him, He was an amazing dog and it devastated me 😔 I'm hopeful Rocky will find a great home ❤

It's been 4 1/2 years since Dougie came home from the shelter. He was crazy friendly and loved to chase balls, but he was also extremely possessive and stubborn. It's just been a month since he let me pick up a paper plate he finished cleaning without trying to take my hand off. Earlier this year he finally gave his tail a full back and forth wag and responded to being told he's a good dog. Over the years he's learned to sit, wait, and his favorite - go! Some dogs need a little time, and some need a lot of time. They all deserve a chance.

My boyfriend and I adopted our dog 7 years ago. She was in a foster family before we adopted her. We are both disabled. And because of that we don't know if we will be able to take care of our dog if she gets health problems because of older age or if something happens to our own health. So we made an agreement with the foster family. That if we can't take care of her anymore that she will go back to them. We are staying in contact and she stays with them a couple of weeks a year for vacation. She loves it there. Having a back up plan gives us so much peace of mind. Hopefully she can stay with us until the end. But only time will tell. She is 8 now and had some health issues already but luckily we could manage.

His grief and sadness is obvious, like someone who lost a cherished loved one. He literally tragically lost his entire family. It's my feeling that he is so very loyal to his owner/family, that it's going to take patience, time, kindness, positivity, to get him to let go of his attachment and open up to give his loyalty to a new owner/family. Got to consider rent and homes have gone up due to the higher values of properties. Once home values increase, so does taxes and insurance So property owners increase the rent . It's not greed from property owners they were forced to increase rent , passing the costs onto the renters. Blame the current economy and housing situations on our currentgovernment. My house payments went up because my house is worth more. So my taxes n insurance also went up. Once I was paying $625 now I'm almost paying $800 a month due to taxes and insurance. Then you got to consider all the other high costs of everything else. Ppl are finding it harder to survive in today's inflation, higher interest rates etc. Most ppl incomes can not afford this . Blame our current government they're responsible for the situation we are all struggling in now. A car payment is more than most ppls house payments. That's ridiculous, too.

For once I have to comment quit trying to reason what that poor family had to go through It's easy to say I would live homeless with my dog You have no knowledge of what their situation is and how bad financially they were hurt I couldn't begin to imagine "doing it the proper way" and while feeling humiliated again explaining why I am giving away my best friend who has given us unconditional love and support They made sure the dog has a roof over it's head and food for now They are probably living with regret and thinking about him everyday wishing life was different It hurts me to the core how hard life has become trying to put food on the table and gas in your car AND then to give up your best friend----heartbreaking I truly believe this was not an easy decision and they would not have made it unless there was no choice Thanks Rocky for all you do

I just watched the video of rocky left by his owners. I'm an Australian watching from home in Australia, I'm very confident Rocky is an Australian kelpie, like 'red dog ' if you've seen the movie. They are an EXTREMELY intelligent working dog for sheep and cattle here in Australia. No wonder he is depressed he needs lots of stimulation both mentally and physically. I hope he finds someone who understands him. Aussie dog lover

My dog passed away 15 years ago. A few years before that, I rescued a stray. Recently, I rescued a stray off the street. That’s exactly why I’m so hesitant to adopt another dog. Lost mine in December & I’m absolutely terrified if I get another dog & he/she needs medical help, I won’t have the $$$ to help him/her. I would never forgive myself. I’m pretty angry about how vet clinics have become. I think the cost of potential vet care deters people from rescuing dogs. I sincerely do. It seems it has become all about the money to most vets anymore. Disgraceful!

Absolutely correct about the " sticker shock" for routine Vet care especially here in California. The last time I got a dental for my healthy 10 yo large dog - 80 lbs ( less than 10 years ago) it was around $200. Now they're wanting over $500. for my otherwise healthy 11 yo 10 lb cat..

@@E11even_E11even Banfield clinic, inside Petsmart where I live in TX, has a monthly payment plan of $40. But, when the girl said it's pretty much forever and hard to cancel. That plan and dog food is $100 per month for the dog, plus toys, treats, etc if a person went that route. Hopefully, this kid will be as healthy as my last pup and we'll be done except for yearly check ups. I wasn't looking for a dog. Pet distribution system sent her my way. After having to put my previous boy to sleep due to cancer and old age, I wasn't interested in that responsibility again. Even after 15 years, thinking about it still gets me. I would really love to see someone talk about the way that vet practices are being snapped up by investors who are then charging more and providing less in terms of individualized service. The "commercialization" of vet care is driving prices higher and higher overall and making it less affordable than ever to own a pet. And personally, I feel like the overall quality of care has gone down. 🤨

Are they food insecure now? Are they ok? Prayers for the person/ family. I’m devastated for Rocky. Such a trauma that he can’t understand. Prayers that he’ll feel the love of a pack again. Both Rocky's a beautiful! I can't judge the owner. I lost my job and it took 11 months to find a new one. If you rent, you're paying additional monthly fees for your pet, in addition to insurance. I wouldn't want my fur-baby to suffer and do without critical vet visits or the comfort of having their own space. The owner did the right thing. Rocky's new owner will be able to afford to take care of this beautiful doggo the way they deserve to be cared for. 😍😍😍

Actually I will not judge either..except to say I am not rich and my 🐇takes up the majority of my discretionary income and there are organizations that can help with vet bills. 🐇s vet bills can be EVEN MORE expensive than dogs..but there are organizations (just off the top of my head..Actors and Others for Animals, BunnyLuv Foundation, PAWS) that help with vet bills. My friend even raised funds online for his cat when she got sick. A dog I found starving on the street I fell for years back and her separation anxiety was so bad that she howled loudly if I left for ten minutes and I received a 30 day warning. I found the dog owners with a yard. It can be done.

that my friend is an australian kelpie. I have an 18 month old that I trained as my PTSD assistance dog (service dog). The breed originated from the Scottish Cooly being great for working sheep but unable to cope in the Australian conditions, so they bred the cooly with the dingo, then selectively bred the unwanted dingo traits back out. Very very intelligent energetic dogs. I'd almost guarantee if you had a tennis ball with you he'd be your best mate. If you want to see how loved this breed is in Australia I recommend a movie called "Red Dog". Based on a true story.

Rocky is a true kelpie, we know because we have one, they are the most loving gentle dogs ever, he is breaking my heart, he understands so much because he's so intelligent which makes it so much worse, I would take all the dogs who have been abused or abandoned if I could, especially the kelpies😢💔

I foster kittens and just started with a new facility in SanAntonio Texas. When I went to pick my babies up, I went through the dog kennels. It was incredibly loud and heartbreaking, I couldn't help but think of Rocky and this channel and I hope there are people here who sit with dogs. ❤❤❤❤ for everyone who does. Even though foster neonatal kittens, I subscribe !

I think he's a purebred KELPIE. HE's got the broad herding dog head, ears and tail and ears so I looked them up. An Australian commenter above has Kelpies and also says that's what he is.

That sweet pup is breathing about 2x what it should be. So sweet. I will be looking for a new fur baby in October after my sweet boy passed away a few weeks ago. I am too far to adopt from CA but pray the universe will send me a doggie that needs my love.

IF THEY ARE DESPERATE FOR A PLACE TO SĹEEP, HAVING ROCKY WOULD MAKE IT SO MUCH HARDER. PUTTING THE DOG THROUGH THE DISCOMFORT AND UNCERTAINTY OF HOMELESSNESS CAN BE WORSE THAN THE POSSIBILITY OF A NEW LIFE THROUGH THE SHELTER. BLESS YOU ROCKY; DOG AND DUDE
