My husband and soulmate of 30 years recently passed away unexpectedly. So I'm sitting here on Christmas morning watching your wonderful videos and asking for a sign that my husband is close....When you called him Marty and how you met some guys named Marty and that they're good guys my jaw dropped. My husband was a Marty and this filled me and made my Christmas so much more bearable!! Thank You for what you do, a true super hero!!

Thanks! For sitting with the Mastiff, they are so misunderstood. They are lovely and loyal to a fault. We had the privilege to rescue a Mastiff that was old and dumped on our street. In the middle of a hot summer. He would follow me all over the house and lay on my feet. Buddy was old, and he could only stay with us for another 4 months before it was his time cross the rainbow Bridge. We had him sedated and euthanized. We stayed with him the whole time.

Every pet owner period. As a bunny owner, I had to work through the exhaustion (free roam bunnies are as if not more high maintenance than dogs!), the expense and change of lifestyle. I am not 20 yrs old, and with maturity, you think of who these guys might get rehomed to..bad owners, testing, etc. If you push through, you are rewarded with their devotion and appreciation, and ❤. I made the mistake of wanting him because he was cute bUT my maturity and stubbornness made me keep him! Dogs, cats, buns, birds are all little souls who are dependent on us to do the right thing by them. (Update: having said that, it pains me..someone who wants to be perfect to realize I will never be the perfect pet owner. My bun needs to get his checkup and has to wait for my friend to recover to take him to the exotic animals vet for his yearly as I do not have a car and my bun knows and is comfortable with him. But I try my best to.make my beloved bunNY as happy as can be. In repayment, he gives me binkies, jumps in my lap..and makes me laugh.

100%! I have a 200# English Mastiff too and I felt/thought the same thing. They are so sensitive (and smart), unlike any other dog breed I know. It’s awful to think of one being in a shelter. we used to raise Old English Mastiffs. They are everything good about temperament. They are very picky choosing a bed to sleep on or your most lovely sofa. Every time they go out for a run they will need to have their feet washed. And if they play in the grass they will have twigs and dirt deep in their thick coat. If in the cold season they need a warm bath. Like a Great Dane, their head is above the table top. Their drool sometimes hangs from fan blades and will dry there. If you feel like being a constant mom to a to these wonderful dogs are so loving and are good watchdogs.

His fear is heartbreaking. What he must have gone through to be this terrified..I know it's new environment but, still.. I wonder if he or other more fearful dogs could benefit from having a place to hide in their kennels, a soft foam "cube" - like cat houses - they could retreat into and sleep, feeling bit safer in there. They can easily be made waterproof and easy to clean and even stuffed with blankets so even a very small dog feels safe and "hidden". Shelters are really loud and confusing, even for the bravest of animals. Having a 'den' helps with some of the anxiety.

Fun fact: guinea pigs and dogs both being pack animals are very likely to form attachments. When I had a guinea pig, Squealer we also had a corgi beagle and Frisket absolutely loved that guinea pig! Frisket licked squealer until squealer would give him the tiniest nip on the nose and then Frisket knew to stop licking. They both enjoyed each other's company. Squealer was from the animal rescue and I don't know how old he was when we got him but he lived a long time after we got him. He got breast cancer and had a mastectomy and lived another year.

My big boy (G/Shep) was seized by police and put in rescue eventually. I don’t know all the circumstances but when we went to see him, he looked huge but when we petted him, he was a bag of skin and bones. We took him home and he stank the car out. He was so shut down, the rescue hadn’t wanted to wash him as he was so scared. He stole food and paced around constantly for around two weeks, then he started to decompress and calm down. Two years on and our beautiful boy is a healthy weight, loving, well settled and so loved

@darlenelarochelle401 The truth is not negative. It is the truth! humans have become lovers of self, cruel all about pleasure .. No sacrifice because that means real Love..Not everybody's like that but look around. When you see something like this happen to a dog. Where is the person who is supposed to love him? Where did they go? I called the Monsters and I hope whatever they gave to this dog or did not give. They get back. They need to know how it feels to be abandoned to be kicked out of a home. You thought you were safe and loved! This dog was created to give Love and comfort to humans not be thrown away like garbage..

We adopted a senior dog. She was so much fun! My sister and I took her and our other dog to walk the high-school track. Apparently her previous owners regularly walked the track. When we got to the track, this 12 year old Pom started huffing, then she took off much faster than us (2 teenaged girls). She lived for 4 years after we got her. And she taught us so many things. She was such a pleasure! I highly recommend adopting an older dog!❤

Funny story, my Aunt and Uncle went to the shelter (the dog-pound in Seattle) and could only adopt one dog....so they asked the shelter workers if they could see a dog that would be put down soon if he/she wasn't adopted. They took them to see an 'un-adoptable' mutt who was very ugly and disliked almost everyone. They named him Barney and I grew up knowing him. I was a kid and he hated me with the force of a thousand snarls. But he fell in love with his family and they put him upstairs when people visited so they wouldn't get bitten. They had to muzzle him on dog walks and on trips to see the vet. One Christmas, my family was visiting and sitting around the table and my brother moved his foot wrong under the table where Barney was sleeping (by my Aunt's feet as usual). Barney was hard of hearing and was startled and bit my brother's leg. We went home laughing and told my brother he should have known better than to have moved. We laughed about that for years. All of us kids learned patience and how to be gentle, and that pets aren't disposable just because they had flaws in their personalities. They had him almost 18 years.

When Marty laid his head on his leg/paw towards you could tell he was finally relaxed. Finally he was in a safe space where he could build trust. I always hope it wasn't a person who caused his trauma but I know there is a special place in heck for people who cause pain to animals when they just want to be good boys/girls.
