I love that the Bee Gees are getting such a positive reappraisal. They really got a raw deal in the 80s with the disco backlash, you have no idea how poisonous and cruel that was. Good music wins out in the end, thankfully.

Everyone seems to do the disco era of the Bee Gees but they are so much more than that. I grew up with this great group. Love their early music especially 60's-70's. Some of their early hits were "Spicks & Specks", "New York Mining Disaster 1941", "To Love Somebody", "Holiday", "Massachusetts", "World", "And The Sun Will Shine", "Really & Sincerely", "Words", "The Singer Sang His Song", "I've Gotta Get A Message To You", "Lonely Days", "I Started A Joke", "Melody Fair", "First of May", "Give Your Best", "Lamplight" etc.

I'm surprised that you missed Lonely Days, Lonely Nights in your named songs but a lot of people seem to forget about that great song for some strange reason... They have reacted to How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, although not before they reacted to the same song by Al Green... On a related note, they also did I Heard It On The Grape Vine by Creedance Clearwater Revival and still haven't reacted to what I consider to be the better version by Marvin Gaye. They seem to do the not so good versions first, Lol.

The "disco era" almost destroyed their career. Nobody would play them in the 80's, sick of their success (if you have great success somebody has to knock you off your pedestal) and tired of the squeaky falsetto. They should have won an Oscar for the SNF sound track however because it had such success. One thing the sound track did achieve was, after that, the Academy was forced to accept contemporary music as worthy of being recognized. That was the one award for which they were ripped off. As a teen in the 1960's their early music caught my attention and I've been a fan since 1967. Disco not so much.

This song reminds me of my Mom teaching my brothers and I how to dance in our living room growing up in south western Michigan. She told us that if we really want to win our dream girl's heart, then we should learn how she dances, and learn to make her smile. She told us that to be fake is never ever acceptable! We cannot be fake when dancing, because it comes from a place so real and genuine, that we cannot help but move to the music. I remember spinning around the living room with the music blaring from my parents record tower, and just laughing and smiling until we forgot where we were. Thanks for the memory blast! It means alot! Thanks!

It's so good to see a young couple discovering what we (oldsters) have known for decades. The Bee Gees were among the best groups of the 50s, 60s and 70s. There were so many major singers and groups whose songs have withstood the test of time. BTW, ever notice how many "oldies" get used in commercials and movies? Wonder why???

I remember being the only guy working in a warehouse full of women, but I loved the gal in the office and would sing loud and proud. Great reaction to another classic by one of the best groups ever.

Your reactions to my favorite songs is like watching a visual of what happens in my heart when I hear them. So uplifting in this weird time in history. One song I now love by BeeGees that I never gave a chance to is Fanny. It's beautiful.

In October 1963 my mum took me to see The Bee Gees at the Glen Innes Town Hall in New South Wales, Australia . They were with Col Joye and The Joyboys, Judy Stone and Dandy Scott. They had just released their second single which Barry wrote named 'Take Hold Of A Star'. Their harmony even back then was stunning to say the least. They were 16 and the twins 12 I think. Great show. and I saw them again in 1964 and at Surf City in Sydney in 1965.

Your genuine reactions are what keeps these great groups alive. The Brother Gibb (all four of them) experienced so many ups and downs ... and real-life tragedies in their lives. Now Barry is the only one of the brothers still with us, but we can still experience their music and simple messages of love and dancing for as long as we all have ears to hear with and eyes to see. So glad I found your channel. You both really brighten my day.

Love the way you guys love "the boys" especially your "guy Barry". Don't know why they are so addictive, but they are. They mess with my head the same way a romance novel does. That's some kind of crazy.

I was part of the Caribbean community in Toronto when these Bee Gees songs were IT! We all loved all those Bee Gee songs, man. Slow dancing with the lovely ladies at parties. Gettin' down at the discos. Those were such heady, joyous days! These 3 white guys brought everyone together on the radio and on the dance floor. Two of them are gone now. But what a tremendous gift of music they left behind. Thanks, Barry, Maurice and Robin.

I doubt you'll even see this but, here goes -- Early Bee Gees had a much different sound, for the most part, than their Disco and post-Disco music. I'd like to recommend "Bury Me Down by the River" from the "Cucumber Castle" album. It's not like anything you've heard so far. The entire album is amazing. Their '60s stuff is my favorite, beautiful lyrics and very soulful...

I grew up in the 70’s, but my older brother grew up in the 70’s. He had a lot of their 60’s pop releases on 45 that I used to play when he wasn’t home. I distinctly remember listening to “Run To Me” a lot. Their 60’s catalog is woefully under appreciated for sure!

Early Bee Gees are almost never mentioned due to the hugeness they became during the disco era......more people need to look further back into their beginnings and non disco songs like "I told the world a Joke". I probably got that title wrong but you know what I am talking about. I have soo much Bee Gees on vynle. Tripping musically today and busting out my Bee Gees collection on the vynle and enjoying pure music including the skips and pops.

Another of my favorites by them. The group *Tavares* has a song called "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" that is so sweet. When I was in high school, my boyfriend and I were into "oldies" and that song was one of out favorites. He'd sing it to me along with the song, and I'd always get a huge smile on my face.
