Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, and Sangyumla Rinchen Yangzom, are delighted to introduce their newborn son Thugsey Rinpoche to you all today.
His Holiness......
“Sangyumla and I are overjoyed to announce the birth of our first child.
We wish to offer our heartfelt gratitude to our dear parents, our family, and you, our dharma friends, for your loving kindness, prayers and aspirations.
I have spoken often of the unconditional love of a mother as one of the best examples of courage and compassion. Being present for the birth of our first child, I was deeply honoured to witness the dignity, courage and spiritual strength of Sangyumla - qualities that are present in all mothers around the world. Therefore, just as a mother’s love for her children knows no bounds, may there be no limits to our love for our mothers.
Now, as a father, I will seek to follow the great example of my own father, His Eminence Mipham Rinpoche, and my predecessors, Choying Dorje, His Holiness the 10th Karmapa, and Khakyab Dorje, His Holiness the 15th Karmapa, who were also parents. The 15th Karmapa fathered three sons, two of whom were recognised as His Eminence 2nd Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche and His Holiness the 12th Shamarpa.
According to tradition, following the birth, there is a period of privacy for the immediate family, sometimes up to three months, before any announcement is made. We are so happy to share this news with you all now.
The experience of becoming a father has further strengthened my inspiration and aspirations as Karmapa. In some ways, I have always been in a parental role, as head of the Karma Kagyu family. Now this spiritual role and title of Karmapa, and the responsibilities that come with it, are clearer than ever before. I will continue to try and preserve our precious lineage, a lineage of wisdom and compassion, with all my heart.
I am delighted that the birth took place in France, the location of my main European seat. The medical team in France displayed great care and service for Sangyumla during the birth, and we offer our heartfelt thanks to them.
I look forward to leading prayers at the Kagyu Monlam in Bodh Gaya, India, later this year, the public meditation course in December, and my other continued activities. And of course, I look forward to introducing you to our son when the time is right.
Once again, Sangyumla and I would like to thank you for your prayers. As ever, I ask that you continue to practice.
Let us all share in this happy news, and may it bring tremendous benefit to each and every one of us.

Kharmapa mean the father of being in Buddha karmic. There is not wrong with him as a being as a father figure. In his linage there may be a arguable issue. Since this is related to the vow he is taken. I do have compassion to him, he has carry a lot of history on his shoulder, I think he also has a huge conflict inside himself as his role with the community, which is not very easily to resolve in any Constitution. The Kharmapa/s need dialogue to United the linage, I think this will be best for him to do in this lifetime of duty until his reincarnation. The 16 Kharmapa in 1980 July 28 KTD meeting has layout our all the basic instructions for his linage and also as a Buddhist what is the mission that need must be done.

This is done very simply. The monk renounces his monastic vows, ceases to be a monk, and marries. It's not as hard as it sounds.

I think there always some greater reason or good for the benefit to Dharma and all sentient beings. In Vajrayana or Tantric tradition some lamas must have consort. Like in case of His Holiness previous Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. He didn't want wife or consort but other high lamas requested him to have to extend His life to benefit sentient beings through Dharma. Sometimes consort also needed to gain energy power. Other reason might be that the son could be Shamar Rinpoche incarnation.

There was a split in the Karma Kagyu school. Some of the followers recognized one as the rebirth of the Karmapa. Another part recognized the second. At the same time, the Dalai Lama's opinion on this issue is not authoritative, since he belongs to another school and recognized one of them as a Karmapa not because of his mystical abilities, but because he believed some people. An important point. The second person in Karma Kagyu is Shamar Rinpoche. So he recognized as the rebirth of the Karmapa exactly the person you see in this video. If you consider yourself a more competent person in this matter than Shamar Rinpoche, consider whether you think too highly of yourself.

@@ipman8446 Recently I came to watch some videos on KZbin by two women each from Taiwan and Hong Kong, claiming that they were sexually abused by Karmapa (another Karmapa, not in this video). If it's true, I think this Karmapa is genuine, though not sure if monk and marriage are compatible.
