Hi Harri, hope you are feeling good this morning. I've looked at all the reactions here and feel it's a shame that some don't seem to realise that putting all of the hits on singles, albums, big hits just in 'concerts', duet hits and non hits that were still good sellers in certain parts of America (especially South America) that Sir Cliff WAS successful in America through the decades. A lot more than even He realises. Example: In early 1990 when his single 'Stronger Than That' was a N0.14 hit here in Britain the song made the Top 20 of the American Dance Chart without ever having been released there. The number of American fans, some who had been fans at least since 1981 when Cliff toured there quite successfully that attended his HeathCliff Rock Opera musical in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh blew me away ... And i'm still in touch with these lovely (mostly ladies of All ages) people!🥰

@@pncombies Hi, Maybe you and Harri could react to 'Born To Rock 'n' Roll' August 1985 - Special Extended Rock Mix by Cliff, or 'Love Stealer' from late 1983 which Sir Cliff explained on a Pebble Mill TV interview that year was a song that 'Iron Maiden' had been interested in recording!😀

I was 12 years old when this song came out and I was introduced to Cliff Richard. Had no idea who he was, but Casey Kasem, the host of the American Top 40 countdown radio program, told us listeners that Cliff was sort of like the Elvis of the U.K., having started his career in the late 1950s. By this song alone, back then I was thinking he was more of a hard rocker than a pop rocker or soft rocker. Thanks, Harri and pncombies!

Hi Harri, this is actually one of Cliff's favourites of all his songs! (and not just out of the Hits but the 1000 or more different songs he has recorded!) It was called 'The renaissance of Cliff when this and a song also a single 'I Can't Ask For Anymore Than You Babe' which is funky and the first 'studio' song Cliff ever sang falsetto a lot on ('live' he had been singing in falsetto for years) came from a cool album called 'I'm Nearly Famous' (a tongue in cheek title) in 1976. Sir Cliff's been bigger than ever before across the whole world (including more success in North America than even He realises) since then. It was around this time and throughout the 80's (yes the whole decade) that he became the first to use effects with lasers and mirrorballs etc that had been used especially in the 1980's on music videos but never in 'concerts' the world over. Sir Cliff has had so many great and often 'dark' Rock songs since then including 'The Nightmare' from HeathCliff the Rock Opera musical where he sang for 120 nights on stage the line 'I curse the God or man who made me'. He has also done reggae duets with Aswad, Duetted with Van Morrison, Elton John, Janet Jackson, Robin Gibb, Dionee Warwick etc The list is endless cos His CAREER is endless! In 1999 he broke the rcord for 32 sold out consecutive nights playing at the Royal Albert Hall. The man certainly is a Legend ... that's why i'm proud to own 100 of his autographs! And then there's THE SHADOWS and that in my eyes is an even GREATER story!!😀♥

@@waynett8810 You're right of course it was Barry! But he says in one of his many books that from a 'blacked out' car in New York the window suddenly went down and it was The Bee Gees saying 'Hi!' to him. But my favourite has to be when Top songwriter Kris Kristofferson was on the same plane as Cliff and the whole journey to the USA Cliff had wanted to speak with him. As soon as the plane landed Cliff got the surprise of his life when Kris approached him and said 'How lovely to meet you Sir Cliff!' A similar thing happened with US actress Faye Dunaway'. Everyone loves our Cliff, those who dont are stupid not to ... he has made so many people happy over SO many years Bless him.♥

Heh Harri. Are you back or are you posting something from before you became ill? Either way, at least we know you’re there in some capacity. I have been so worried about you as I am certain your other besties have been. I hope you’re on the mend. As far as this video goes, I have an interesting story. I had never even heard the name Cliff Richard until I met my Korean husband in 1980. CR was extremely popular in South Korea at that time. I was totally unfamiliar with his name although I recognized a song of his when my husband pointed it out to me. Anyway, this is a great song and now I’m well aware of who Cliff Richard is. It’s strange how certain artists catch on in some places and not others. I guess that’s how someone like Linda Ronstadt can be nearly unknown in the UK 🤷🏻‍♀️. Anyway, welcome back and thanks to you and Neal for a great choice and review. 🌸✌️

I first heard of Cliff Richard on 'The Young Ones' about 25 years ago and at first, I thought he had simply covered Marty Robbins' song 'Devil Woman.' When I finally heard it, I realized that it was a tune I had heard on the local Classic Rock station but had never paid attention to who the artist was.

Yay!!!! You're back Harri. ❤ You were so missed. ❤ From Cliff's 1976 album, " I'm Almost Famous", the record company tried to market Cliff as a rebellious R&R singer and he first rejected this tune, but later complied. Such a great tune with a beautiful heavy guitar driven melody with the Rhodes piano and drums and percussion making a fabulous tune that made it to Number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100's. His wonderful vocals are so smooth, melodic and versatile, so lovely. He dominated the late 50's and 60's in Europe before The Beatles. Great reaction Harri.❤ Fabulous memory Neal. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦

So you DID recognize this song after all. I'd be surprised if you'd never heard it, though I can understand not realizing that it was Cliff. This was a comeback hit and album for him. He finally started getting interested in the music again, after drifting through the early 70's in mediocrity. "Devil Woman" was Cliff's biggest hit here in the US (#6), and charted even higher here than the UK (#9). His label refused to release the single or album here, so Elton John released them on his own label.
