This is the second Sally Britton book I've listened to and I'm absolutely delighted. The characters not only speak, act and think according to the time and place the plot is set in - these stories are bringing them to life in a very thoughtful, sensitive way. That's very special, these books are about feelings, about the hearts and souls of the protagonists. I can't explain it better, I can only recommend listening or reading for yourself. I love this book so much. I listen to it quite frequently while I'm doing chores. I love how kind she is. *Spoiler* my absolute favorite part is how short the misunderstanding time is. Both of them are very willing to understand and love each other

Thank you! My least favorite trope is the "misunderstandings drive them apart" trope. I often want to shake characters in the midst of that and say "Just speak to one another!" So when it shows up in my books, it never lasts long. ;-) I'm glad you enjoy this story so much!

What a joy it was to listen to this story!! I loved both Adam and Elaine. I love how Elaine remained kind throughout the entire story and therefore was able to see Adam for who he truly was without too much trouble ❤ his confession was so beautiful as well!! Even if I hadn’t been listening from his POV as well, I would have been convinced with that heart felt confession. Thank you!! ❤

I listened to this book and Her Unsuitable Match out of order. I think already knowing Pippa made her entrance into the story much more enjoyable. I laughed out loud several times, especially when the will was being read to Adam’s mother😂 my kids gave me strange looks😂 I am not one who is brought to tears often, but I had tears in my eyes when Adam was pleading with Elaine. Whenever I listen to a book and end up loving the story, I put it on a list to buy a hard copy. I just bought my kids Christmas gifts on Amazon and added these two books to my cart for my own Christmas present❤

I enjoyed this story too. I read the Pippa’s story first, but both were so enjoyable. Thank you Sally for your audiobook. I had eye surgery a few weeks ago and I still have bit of difficulty with reading smaller print or lettering. The Audiobooks are such great help, plus I can knit or crochet while listening. I like to think he gave his great-nephew his best chance, which is all we can do for the people we love. Even if Adam hadn't fallen in love with Elaine (and obviously they were meant to be!) I imagine that his Great-Uncle hoped at the very least that Elaine's kindness would rub off on him. :-)

I'm about a third of the way through. I really enjoy stories like this. Thank you for sharing. I do wish the model on the cover matched the voice of the narrator. The voice was well done but it doesn't match the young lady on the cover...much more mature sounding than the model who looks in her late teens.

His title wasn't tied up in his uncle's line, since it came through the current earl's grandfather, not his grandfather's brother. But it would be interesting to see someone brought that low. I don't think titled people can actually be stripped of their titles by anyone other than the monarch, though...

I am thoroughly enjoying this, as I enjoyed the one about Pippa. Only one criticism: there is the odd Americanism that snaps me out of the story (as I am English they are obviously out of place to me). "Out the door" creeps in, rather than "out of the door". "Done caring" rather than "No longer cared", for example. Sometimes I stop reading books with these Americanisms in them, but I persevered with these because they're lovely books, and glad I did!

Oh man! I binged this only stopping for dinner. This is truly amazing, it's kind, sweet snd and feel good! I love the character growth from Adam and the positive affect they have on eachother It's so refreshing to have a misunderstanding not over stay its welcome and instead feel perfectly played out!! I love that Elaine was smart enough and had enough agency to see Adams action and realise he truely loved her! In so many books the woman feels like she is convinced by others or it feels forced! We love a ML who's actions speak for himself

A thing I find frustrating in reading some authors in writing sequel stories is that they spend so much time force feeding you facts from a prequel that it doesn’t flow into the story line. As usual, at my piecemeal way of listening to your books through the night, I know the story very well. I loved Adam. Of course, I liked Elaine, but there is just something about the vulnerable guy who realizes his love first. 😊 I have already read Her Unsuitable Match and enjoyed knowing their charitable projects up front. (If I may, an author, from a lifetime ago who also had vulnerable men, is Laura Kinsale. If you can still find her books, you may enjoy reading another author that I love so much.)
