Lou Christie is another teenage heartthrob from the 60's. He was known for being able to sing in a high falsetto voice. He had quite a few hits such as "Lightnin' Strikes", "I'm Gonna Make You Mine", "Two Faces Have I", "The Gypsy Cried" & "Rhapsody In The Rain" etc.

Lou Christie is an excellent singer but Frankie Valli is so much more versatile as a singer due to being able to go from angel sounding falsetto to Christies type of falsetto, and then to a street sounding growl. Let’s not forget Valli’s style on Cant Take My Eyes Off You, & Swearing to God.

Anyone remember the "Dick Clark Caravan of Stars"? In the mid-60's several bestselling artists would tour together. They swept through my town twice with everyone from Lou Christie to Paul Revere & the Raiders. One night my dad ran into the performers at a restaurant. He got several autographs for me, including Lou's. My 12 year old self was even more excited that he got me George Harrison's sister's autograph! This was at the height of Beatlemania & her part of the show was just to answer questions from the audience about The Beatles. Those were great times.💙☮💙

This song "Two Faces Have I" charted #6 in 1963 for Lou Christie. He had one of the highest pitch voices back in the 60's. He along with Frankie Valli and Edde Holman had high pitch voices during this period of the 60's. His biggest hit would come in 1965 after his two-year stint in the Army from 1963 to 1965. It would become his signature song titled "Lighting Striking Again." This monster hit first charted at #93 on billboard. And on February 19, 1966, which is Lou's 23rd birthday, it will hit #1. The rest as they say is history.

Fun fact, VERY fun fact, Lou Christie was so famously well endowed that the color and cut of his costumes had to be taken into consideration based on the venue and media so the audience wouldn't be so focused on you know where...be that as it may, he had(s) a spectacular voice and remains quite handsome as he approaches 80.

The Gypsy Cried, Lightning Strikes, and Rhapsody in the Rain were his greatest ones hes from Pittsburgh, Pa which is an hour and a half south of me. Previous to his solo career starting in '62 he has 2 doo wop groups of which was using his actual first name Lugee and the Lions. Lou was known for have that falsetto that could hit a 3 octave range.

Interesting fact about Lou, in High School he sang bass in a group. He has a 4 octave voice range. His HS music teacher wanted him to be classically trained, but he said no, he was going to make a record and be on American Bandstand. And he did. Huge teen heartthrob in the 60s.

I actually got the chance to see him in an oldies show. This was back in the mid 80’s and the man still had a set of pipes. He sounded as good as he did when he started. He was great and the entire show was great. We were seated in the roadies section in the theater and that made it even better. We ( mostly the others around us) gave the performers what for if it was lousy and cheers louder than the rest of the theater put to get her. There were only 14 of us total. Leslie Gore was on the tour too, and she got an earful from the entire theater. She did only 2 of her songs everyone came to hear. She was trying to push two new songs she was releasing, but she was drown off the stage by boos! She was po’d but you do what people come to see. The rest of the show was exactly what we all paid for. Except for her, the show was great.
