I previously had the variations and now have the m5e. I find the m5e much better for my preferences and sounds better to me. To me, the variations sounded shouty and unrefined.

Ordered these! These Mega5 EST have consistently gotten good to superior reviews. Thanks for your review. (laid back is great for listening to EQed lOUD!)

Awful sound in video
@hazi5961
I was initially underwhelmed by the M5E. But it grew on me a lot, to the point where it's my favorite IEMs. I did a ton of tip rolling, and found 4 tips that work really well. The Eletech Baroque Tips, NF Audio MS42 tips, Fiio HS18 Tips, and Tanchjim T-APB Wide Bore tips. For my money, the NF Audio MS42 tips work the best. Also, KBear 07 tips were decent and moved the vocals forward.
@DarthRaven2
The gain on ur mic is really low for whatever reason on this video

Now I'm wondering what's better.. Mega5est, the new DUSK or Monarch MKIII
@wiesolos
Pretty spot on, I have sa6 ultra, variations, supernova for mid-fi and mega5est sounds low-res in comparison to the aforementioned iems. The difference is not minor, it's QUITE significant and i will go so far to say even simgot ea1000 sounds more resolving than mega5est.

are you reviewing the oracle mk3? that would be a nice battle with this.
@anatol1204
They should add double dynamic drivers instead of one .They must also lower the bass a couple dbs because it is distracting hearing always subbass and it masks the already subdued mids.Finally I think they have to rise the whole Pina gain at 3 khz 2 dbs more to bring the nuances and the space more forward.I don t know how much the ests cost and the BAs but nowadays the 500-600 $ area is the 1000+ of the past..&&& nice honest review My two cents 😆.
@Cujobob
I have these, the tuning is like you’ve described with regards to the bass, however I get zero sibilance. I recommend Divinus Velvet tips.

I'm proud owner of the Studio SA6 Mk2 (had to decide between mega5est, SA6 and Hype4) and I find the bass astoningshly good (it's on par with my MP145 planar).

I think I want to get this set. Thanks for the review.
@mike.soto_
I love the elotech boroque tips with the Mega5est! Really cuts down the sibilance and opens up the soundstage
@TheVeganVicar
Thanks for the review!
@shaunbrady15
Wondering if you tip rolled? Megafest is pretty tip dependent. It can really open up the sound
@paulosilva8200
Perfect for high volume .
@calvinlooi4500
Does the Aful Explorer sound warmer and darker compared to the Mega5est? I liked the Mega5est but the price was a slight turn off. If the Aful has a similar neutrality and flat signature with that bass boost, might just get that!
@cxmxc
I want my variations back. I sold it and I regret it. Best out there
