How to get to the lower coils to keep your system clean...make it last for years..
Hisense would not tell me how to remove the panel and they say you are not supposed to deep clean this unit...that removing the panel voids the warranty. Sure if you don't deep clean the thing, it might last 2 years, just long enough for the warranty to expire and then you have to go out and buy a whole new one. If you keep these things clean they last a whole lot longer.
The same rule applies for your refrigerator make sure you don't just vacuum the front... pull the refrigerator out of its cubby hole once a year and vacuum the back. I actually remove the panel at the bottom, it's got like 6 screws... and make sure you unplug your fridge to do so and wait at least 10 minutes before plugging it back in. And please, don't touch anything. There are things back there that can hurt you just use a little wand like a wedge vacuum thing and vacuum up the dust

Thank you!!! 🙏 This video is still helping people. After 2 summers of mostly trouble free service, I kept getting the E5 error even after draining. What I discovered after taking the cover off (saved by this video!) was that the dust from those lower coils had gotten into the condensation tray and turned into sludge that wasn't draining. Cleared that out and it's good to go again. I don't know why they didn't put the same kind of removable filter on the lower opening, it definitely needs one!!

video is 3 years old yet I cant find anywhere dealing with Hisene a better video showing how to disassemble. I needed to change my power cord today after to was run over as I use this machine in pop-up camper. Couldnt for the life of me figure out how to pop the cover off after I took all the screws off. Thank you! While at it I cleaned the lower vent too.

Thanks for this info. The reason they don't have a removable bottom panel is because they want you to send it back for repairs.

So glad I could help…yeah…planned obsolescence…make cleaning and repairs so difficult so people just toss and buy a new one… all I ask is if you learn something that can help others, abut ANYTHING… make a KZbin about it, people really do learn from these things…heck, I learned how to repair some serious issues my envoy XUV with videos

I've been watching someone else on youtube who advocates for right to repair, and how manufacturers make everything so hard nowadays..starting to see more and more why this stuff is important now that I own a home. It's crazy how greedy these companies are getting.

1:20 Thank you so much! Thats exactly where mine was secretly collecting dirt, clogging and overheating by the 2nd summer the compressor stopped kicking in - all this despite cleaning the accessible filters weekly this still happened. I’m about to pull it apart because it’s already heavy expensive garbage at this point anyway and can only potentially get better… or sent to the dump where it belongs. Worst AC unit I’ve ever owned.

Thanks - I noticed the layout on the back, when I first got it. I'm pretty sure they do it like that so the unit over heats and eventually stops working, correctly. Mine ran for about 2 years without problems. Then today its about 85 degrees in my bedroom, so I set it up and it would cool for about 5 minutes then shut off and just be the fan. I was also worried I break it by taking it apart (broke many things trying to force). But your video showed exactly where the clips were. After cleaning, it works fine an blows air much better!!!

Just cleaned my hisense portable ac again using this video. Last time as soon as I cleaned the massive dust blanket off the rear Radiator, my compressor stopped over heating and stayed on reliably. I recommend cleaning this ac atleast 4-6 months since it’s very easy to take apart. My last portable ac took me 4 plus hours to clean because it was very difficult to take apart. I this is a great ac for smaller bedrooms like mine, just gotta keep it clean and the tank empty if you live in high humidity environments. Excellent!

Wow, your video was so incredibly helpful! My very similar model Hisense portable AC unit has been kicking butt non-stop for about a year and a half, here in hot and humid Houston. Through temps of 100+ degrees and 100% humidity this little trooper has made life a breeze. But earlier this week I noticed the little power blaster wasn't getting quite up to its usual comfort zone - something was amiss! After watching your video my son and I opened the case (with a brief battle with those pesky clips - but with your insight we knew what we were up against), and gently brushed, vac'ed and blew all the dust encrusted coils, and reassembled it all back to factory fresh. Upon starting it again we were shocked at how much harder it blew, how much colder was the output, and how much quieter the whole system ran. It was heavenly! THANK YOU SO MUCH for making our summers days a breeze again! Ahhhh... :) PS, the whole breakdown, cleaning, and reassembly took about half an hour. But why don't they make all the coils more easily accessible!?!

Hey, I was having trouble getting those clips to unclip. I think mine is a slightly newer model so it might have a different setup. So, I tried using a vacuum with a brush attachment. The bristles on the brush weren't long enough, so I used a brush with much longer bristles (a plastic pot scrubber) which worked really well. The pot scrubbing brush lifted the fluff and the vacuum sucked it all up as it came off. Worked great without having to remove the back!

Hey, I came across this video a few years ago while trying to clean the same model. It was very helpful, but I recommend once you get that plastic case off the A/C unit you break off those plastic little buggers. They’re there to make you throw in the towel every time you want to clean this and make you buy a new one.

Yeah, they just make things so complicated…. I just replaced the mid gate window regulator in my GMC envoy XUV and when you look online, apparently directions actually tell you to have JB weld handy to repair the switch that always breaks off…kinds dumb, it’s something that seems like it could have easily been bolted on but apparently they wanted to use a plastic clip that is made on the switch…and you can’t buy the switch either

Thank you for making this. Without people like you making videos of random repairs like this I'd be stuck. On my AC, the fan ran fine but the cooling would turn on and off every few mins, so it could keep a room around 75 degrees or so but couldn't make any headway towards actually cooling it off. I'm familiar with all my settings, so it wasn't that. Following your instructions and cleaning that giant back filter has brought it back to life. I broke almost all those clips getting the back section off but I wasn't worried about them, the screws hold it together fine. I imagine the clips and all that is just another part of the planned obsolescence. Yes it's a real term and a real "strategy" I guess, that companies use to keep you paying for repairs or new stuff about the time the warranty runs out. Another thing I noticed on mine was the wires that run across the top were kinked, so I did my best to straighten them out and taped them how I wanted them before I put it back together. Anyhow I basically just wanted to say thanks.

Stupid engineers. This is in every industry. Mechanics always have to deal with shit like this fixing engineers problems. They probably don't want you to open it up so you can buy a new one. They also think most people would buy the same that's how dumb the company is.

I'm going to tape that plastic part back on and the next time I need to clean it I'll just remove it again and give it a good cleaning and then put it back on.. I agree there needs to be a totally different setup to be able to clean that part these things are a booger to try to take apart!!!

For anyone in the future, easy way to clean the hair off,, use a Qtip and just spin it, obviously not against the fins but against the debris and it will act like a tornado, won’t have to take off the cover. Thank me later

The real question was how it was after you cleaned it. Because I clean the filter and empty it..but it's still having problems. But tomorrow I'm taking it apart and cleaning it very well. Too see how it would work. It's 102 degrees, and I'm hot as hell.

My compressor sounds like it's still running after I shut it off, it's like a huming sounds and I hear a little gurgling, can't fix it. It does blow cold air but doesn't shut off right anymore, just did a full clean. Any pointers? Same exact ac in the video. I have yo unplug it from the wall.

How long does the gurgling last? It might be a matter of settling down, it might have water in the drain or it might be low on Freon (low Freon will still blow cold until it gets too low…do the coils ever get ice on them.?

I felt around for where it was the tightest and worked that way, it’s not an easy science to explain…I spent 18 years with a guy people nicknamed ma guy er because he can figure anything out so I learned a little
