How To Clean Hisense Portable Air Conditioner Coils

Today I will teach you how to clean the inside of your portable air conditioner to make it cool down a room faster, use less electricity, last longer, and remove any musty smells it may have. I will take you step by step through the easy removal of the outer casing to give you access to the coils inside so you can clean them off. The manufacturers try to make it difficult but I make it easy. Save the planet by using less electricity and extending the life of your AC before it needs to visit a landfill.

Dawn and hot water works great also pump sprayer use fine mist low pressure, rinse with spray bottle warm water only. Very good video you got it really good.

Thanks for the informative video! I have one of these units and it has been a great investment. In the 3 years I have owned this unit I have never had to drain the water or had a leak but now I have to drain it 3 or 4 times a week. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Mine is making a whining sound when running. Not too loud but enough to bother me when I sleep. Any tips on where to oil and with what kind of oil? I assume that's the fix.

See the sensor in the middle of the top coils? I think mine might be bad. I think it's a moisture sensor. Mine runs even on dry days until the float switch trips an E5. I had to buy another unit. I don't know if my old one is repairable.

I’m not sure what filter you are referring too. These units do not have a filter.

That’s not a filter. That’s the fan. Portable ac units don’t have filters

I think i've pretty bunch bent the entire fin set on the side of my air conditioner.It still seems to work fine and has for a while. Though, I wonder if it would work better if I replaced this part? What do you think? And if I can get the part, do you know where I would find it? I have the same AC as you

You don’t need to replace anything. Just buy an ac fin comb. They also have ones at Walmart Home Depot and Lowe’s if you want to search for what comb you like best. Let me know how it goes

@@BillOfAllTrades2016 So it's a NM1Z8D10532 hisense portable air conditioner. The "Z" may be a "7." I can't seem to find a manual for the life of me as it's a fairly old unit. At least 10 years old. I followed your video and cleaned the air filters and sprayed the fins a few weeks ago and it's been working great. But now it's stopped cooling the air. The fan comes on. And periodically, every minute or so, it tries to turn on the condenser (right?) to cool the air, but then fails. So I was trying to find the manual to figure out how to fix this.

Should the on/off light be red when turning it on? I just got an used one but I am not sure if that's normal.

The red light indicates that your water collection tray is full of water. The unit will auto shut off when it’s full to prevent overflowing. When the unit is powered back on the switch will be red. Unplug the unit and pull the drain plug and let all the water out. I set mine in the tub to make the draining easier. Once it’s all drained power the unit back on and you should be good to go. Are those bronze colored coils on the bottom right producing moisture? Do they also need to be cleaned? Cause if they dont produce moisture they wouldnt be developing bacteria would they? I cant figure out how to remove my case. I Have a different model hisense Also does removing the case void the warranty?

Yes they also produce moisture but the air is only drawn across the fins so you only need to clean the fins. Also opening the unit and removing the shell will most definitely void any manufacturers warranty.

Yes it should. The ammonia smell most likely is from mold buildup. This will remove that and kill it. I would do a couple applications of this cleaner to make sure it’s fully clean. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

Simple soap and water will also work well. If you are looking to use a chemical it’s best to get a designated coil cleaner. Hardware stores also carry foaming coil cleaners. Non designated chemicals may damage and eat at the coils. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

Mine is the same. It could be that one room is more humid than the other. Do you run them both at the same time of day and same length of time? My daughters ac collects more water because it runs during the day. But mine doesn’t because it only runs at night when humidity is low. Did you clean both of them? It’s right in the bottom there. While you have the unit open just blast it with a can of compressed air.

It's a good name brand. But in my opinion, any name brand or type of portable ac is not worth it. They all produce water in a tank that you have to pour out when the tank gets full. On average, 7 pints of water for every 8 hours it runs. Common sense, get a window ac they drip thier water outside by their self.

Or you could use the provided hose that it comes with to let the water drain into a bucket as it runs. Put the unit ontop of a tote bin to elevate it. Not everyone is allowed to have window units.
