I just want to say that i found this song while 2 tabs into an acid trip 6 months ago and because of this songs message, I completely dropped my shopping addiction, stopped using cocaine, quit drinking, quit all my toxic friends, quit my social media addiction, and stopped eating nothing but fast food. I listen to this often to remind myself of what matters. We all know how to be happy, we just have a hard time applying it to our lives. I've never been happier and healthier. Thank you for the amazing music and powerful message, dude. Take back your knowledge, friends.

I don't know if everyone realizes how fucking amazing this is!!! Man, it's a great tune by itself, but seriously, can you realize how difficult this song is musically speaking? I consider myself a commiteted musician but I can tell that I not even close to the level of this guy. He sings in absolutely perfect pitch some odd melodies, do crazy octave jumps, record tons of overdubs live and not only is not static (and let's be fair, it would be acceptable because of all the concentration required to do all this stuff), but can still deliver a lot of emotion in his singing. Great tunes and and outstanding musician. I became an admirer.
@rickardoreid66208 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly! I'm a musician myself and don't think the majority of people can grasp just how difficult it is to juggle all the effects and loop pedals he's using, and then to sing and play guitar the way he does. I get goose bumps watching this video every time, I'm honestly in awe of this dude!

But I don't realize that I'm very insecure about my own self and my own identity, so when I say something else is cringe it's because I'm experiencing secondhand embarrassment because I put myself in their situation, because I have a lot of empathy because overall I'm a very sensitive kid. But when I feel real emotions I wanna fight that off because I don't want to feel like I'm a good person! Sam Ites on percussion doesn't get as much credit next to Mike Love, but he did an amazing job, too. It's easy to mess up a piece with the wrong percussion. Excellent minimal use of snare and cymbals for accent, his hand percussion is on point, and he provides a second voice in the right spots while keeping the beat. Credit where due.

This is freaking awesome! I had never heard of this guy or his music before tonight. I just stumbled upon it. I don't even recall how I got here. How does this guy sing these impossible parts? His voice jumps a perfect octave, then he lands back where he started, over and over again. I've never heard this technique before!!! I'm a new fanatic!

I saw him do this live 3 times... he does it just as well. One was a solo show and he did a bunch of songs with his looper. Just amazing. I met him and gave him a big hug twice during the festival. He walked around with his band and talked to everyone. He spent nearly 2 hours after his show meeting and taking time to talk to everyone that wanted to meet him, got pictures with him and his band. Just truly an amazing person. Mike Love is a real dude with healing intentions

Amazing, talented performers. Fantastic performance; top quality song and a really important message... I can't help but notice the irony of a guy singing about being on a permanent holiday and eschewing money, but performing with equipment worth thousands of dollars in a plush apartment on a Persian rug... How do you propose we get those pedals and drums if we stop buying... ??? Nevertheless, great music, very powerful and inspirational tunes. Keep it up Mike Love and accompanying drummer.
@dannymagee820210 жыл бұрын
The place isn't his; he was invited there to perform a set. The place was rented by Hi-Sessions. He doesn't have a day job. All his equipment will have been bought using the money he's earned from performing and selling his own art. Yes, money's still involved, but it's not wage slavery if you enjoy what you do. Lastly, he's not saying to stop buying; he's saying to stop working in a job you don't enjoy where you live for the one week a year when you get to go on holiday. The best advice I've ever been given was to do only that which I enjoy and stubbornly refuse to do anything else. Personally, it's worked out pretty well. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the video too. My mind is blown by how good this is!

+benlrenzen10 It's funny how the lyrics clash so much with everything shown in this video. It wouldn't be possible without these corporations it condemns. I'm not even talking about the youtube platform, I'm talking about the very gear he uses.
@goal20048 жыл бұрын
***** No corporations would leave you without that pretty house this was recorded in, that provided excellent acoustics. You won't have any of the electronic equipment there, nor will you have the guitar, drums and cymbals used. They're all made, sold, imported, exported, transported and designed by corporations. My point isn't that people aren't creative. My point is that the lyrics are hypocritical about wanting to disconnect so bad, and yet he won't even show any attempt other than superficially appearing anti-establishment. What I'm saying is this guy is a false hippy, and this song is a corporate product. This isn't some private person recording something from their bedroom. This is a professional recording and filming session with proper lighting and sound mixing.

+goal2004 what is he to do in a world ruled by paper, numbers, and people far away behind the scenes? He has a family to provide for at the end of the day. People have made guitars long before corporations, the original version of almost everything today was made by hand, by an individual. All of this video would be possible without government and corporation. Whats exactly hypocritical btw? Does he have to be homeless in a forest with no following to have his message validated by you? Please decalcify bro.

9 million of these views are mine. I cannot stop. All of Mike Love's song bring me complete happiness. Gives me faith in humanity. Sam is also amazing. His percussion and vocals are so on point. Perfect team. Can't wait to see them live.

Looking forward to a world where people look up and idolize people like Mike Love. If this was the mainstream, we’d be sailing smoothly.

All these sell out mainstream rappers and rockers say they're "G's" but just produce GARBAGE. LISTEN UP: THIS MAN IS A G. REAL TALENT AND A REAL MESSAGE. MAD RESPECT TO MR. LOVE. Free your mind people.

Worked at Bells Brewery and got to listen to him do this exact performance to an audience of ~200. Never liked this kind of music until I heard it from him. Still come back to this song today.

This guy is obviously an amazing guitarist, but his control of his effect pedals is incredible. A lot of subtle switching going on here and there and some incredible tones and vocal effects. Great performance and very well captured.

Just noticed that in that middle part he was constructing the lyrics one syllable at a time in a pattern

That’s what makes this a masterpiece!
@theforeverpuddle87543 жыл бұрын
Yeah. He builds out 2/3rds of it. First syllable, second syllable and then he builds the harmony on each syllable which ends up being a chord on each. Then once that's built, he does the third syllable. It's really clever and well done.

Best use of a loop pedal I've ever seen! The bit where he breaks down words was unbelievable! Big love!
