In "Why Nations Fail" book, the turning point of Western nations was the industrial revolution which start from 1760. The Usmania empire, Arab countries and African countries do not accept the impact of IR and stop the way of revolution. So the Western Nation more prosperous then other nations. In the start of revoltion, the inventers were not given the permission to sell their products in the market by the lords. The parliament helps the inventers in protecting and selling the products in markets.

Firstly, this is not my opinion but the opinions of Karl Polanyi. Secondly, he is not suggesting that the past was better but that the past disproves the assumptions of modern economics.
