The obscurity of an event depends on when you are. Other than the shoah, Oradour is the first exemple of WW2 war crime than any french student hears about.

The Dirlewanger Brigade was a whole unit of criminals taken from prisons by the SS. Can’t say I recommend a video on them as they did horrible stuff.

I think a big chunk is why the Nazis were shocked is because basically you admitted that there was no evidence of French resistance or being a high source of it plus the fact that historians generally think that the only justifiable reason is he mistaken for another town maybe they just saw them as an example of them attacking a town they mostly surrendered peacefully to the Nazis and such a major blunder of statistics would look bad for any military

Hadn't watched Simon whistler in years and I am stunned to see that he managed to become even more unbearable than before. He speaks as if he's trying to sing his script without punctuation and refuses to even attempt to pronounce foreign names in the correct manner.

Oh god not this guy. Just like Mark Felton Productions, Simon here is a known plagiarist. Only thing he's good at is regurgitating the words of people significantly more qualified and well informed than him and parroting off of their success

I thought he was just a narrator? if so the plagiarism problem would be on the ones who give him the texts, he wouldn't have any way to know. edit: it's even shown at 17:56. he's the host, not the author.

@@josephguillerey4391 Several of his scripts have been found to be almost entirely plagiarized, like word-for-word. You can straight up go to any one of his videos, type the words he's saying into Google and you'll more than likely come across the original source. I seriously wouldn't bother giving him the benefit of the doubt

@@otho69AD he's just the narrator, he never claimed to be the author. Don't get me wrong your anger against the channel and its author(s) is justified, but you're blaming the wrong person. his job is litteraly just to read whatever script is given to him, not to check if it's plagiarized or even true.
