An aspect the Brit historians missed: Chamberlain was well aware the British military, particularly the RAF, was not prepared for war. The Luftwaffe had been showing its superiority in Spain. At this point, the RAF still had to depend on biplane fighters. They needed time to develop the Spitfire and get it into mass production. The Hurricane, the best they had, was also in limited numbers and was inferior to the ME-109. Chamberlain had to sacrifice the Czechs for time. This is a consideration for why Chamberlain capitulated.

Look up the Oster Conspiracy. Many German generals did not think Germany could take on Britain, France, and Czechoslovakia all at the same time. Plus, the Germans would not have had access to the Panzer 38T had the Munich Conference not taken place.
@henrikg13884 ай бұрын
Exactly. I sincerely doubt that farce at the top meeting ever happened, and even if it did, Chamberlain wasn't bullied into signing the agreement. He was suing for time. These nonsense documentaries keep repeating the same things over and over again... until we know it's a lie! 😉

@@Person0fColor the "good guy" depends on who you ask. Supporters may emphasize the intentions to promote freedom, democracy, and security.
