How fortunate we are that the film was made all those years ago and then later salvaged from an abandoned garage after a house fire.

Brilliant find. I remember the line well and always get a surprise when I see the closure date. If asked I would have guessed a couple of years later.

Roughly where Camden's goods shed once stood is now the local Maccas.

Fantastic look at what once was in this area. It's amazing how much modern day growth and progress has taken over large parts of the background in this clip.

An historical gem and significant piece of rail corridor infrastructure that should have never been closed

unfortunately it had to be due to it being unsustainable economically but it's fascinating to imagine what could be today if it hadn't closed.

How was it so busy in the 1950s then closed in 1963??

Were CPHs used in the later years?

No they weren't but the notoriously unreliable British 41 class diesels were. They were SO bad that it shut British locomotive manufacturers out of NSW Railways in the diesel age and American Alcos and GM reigned supreme.
