Keep coming back to this. 12:05 and elsewhere mini-Chopes, super thick round barrels pealing off the clear subtropical waters of the Southern California Countercurrent. Spectacular. I've been out of surfing for a while having only just moved back to near the coast. I had no notion this was kicking off, except I could smell the salt spray from 7 miles inland! He's not lying lol. You have 2 sections of reef that closeout into each other on half of the waves (on the best days). You fall deep on the south end and you have a 20 minute circle back through the channel. The good ones feel like you're too deep but you are not. There's so much that goes into it. These guys are great surfers that are making it look like it's doable. Black's is way easier of a wave.

I live in La Jolla and have been watching the power the past few days when I walk my dog down. It’s amazing to see the surfers literally at the Cove when they are normally down at the Shores bc of where they’re breaking. Also, can you please explain to someone who is too cowardly to surf, how are the boards breaking? Is it the powerful smashing of the waves or are they hitting the rocks? You guys are incredible athletes!!!

@didymostruespeal11 ай бұрын
Watch the movie North Shore. 1980s movie see that place there. (Place where the top meets bottom). Don't be there!. So the boards were there. The lip of the wave is a karate chop.
@bloblablah740911 ай бұрын
Sometimes when a wave is pitching, guys will bail their board so that the board is positioned parallel to the lip of the wave to distribute the energy of the lip more evenly across the board as opposed to the lip landing on the board perpendicularly where it would put more stress in one small area of the board increasing the probability of the board to snap
