Dubai Autodrome and Gulf Historic celebrated the UAE's 50th anniversary by bringing history back to life. The Historic Dubai Grand Prix Revival paid homage to the first Grand Prix event held in the region; the 1981 Dubai Grand Prix.
The event, which was held on the 3rd of December 2021, featured Historic F1 and Le Mans Group C race cars from the 70s, 80s and 90s. The entry list featured numerous stars from the world of motorsport such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Romain Dumas, former F1 driver, Jean-Denis Delétraz, and Dakar Rally winner, Mathieu Baumel.
This historic event included 2 races for each category, with Oliver James Webb powering to a double victory in James Hunt's (world champion) iconic Hesketh 308.
Marc Devis and Danny O'Connell shared a Spice SE90P and stormed to victory in both Group C races, finishing ahead of the Webb-Soucek duo in the Argo JM19D.
The festivities extended beyond the track and into the paddock, where fans were able to get up-close and personal with the historic machines as they drove through the Historic Victory Lane. The paddock was also a place for families and kids to enjoy the beautiful December weather, with plenty of activities and live music to keep them entertained in between the spectacular racing.
With the next edition scheduled for 2022, it will only get bigger and better. Stay tuned!
