The city originally started as a settlement at the confluence of the Rivers Scheldt and Leie and in the Late Middle Ages became one of the largest and richest cities of northern Europe, with some 50,000 people in 1300.

I was born In Ghent Now I do not live there anymore , but the place I live is not so far from this City I come her many many times , and always enjou my stay there This is a very nice city with beautiful and old buildings If you really will enjoy it come to ' the Ghentse feesten ' In July I sure you will enjoy it very musch Greetings from a " stropke"
