There is no one now like Flintoff, McGrath, Kallis, Akram, Warne, Vaas, Akthar, Bond, Rhodes, Murali, Anderson, Pollock, Kumble, Lee (list will go on and on if I touched the mighty Windies bowlers). No any matches are declared draw because one of the team couldn’t bat their second innings. No any partnerships like once Dravid - Ganguly, Ganguly - Sachin or Dravid - Laxman (considering Indian team only). There is no one like “classy explosive” Sehwag or Jayasurya. The ground is too small now. Everything is eaten up by the T20 shit. T20 is T20, ODI is ODI and Test is Test. Now a days these are not differentiated. Everything is playing like T20. Most of the test matches where finished even before the 5th day. Most of the innings score are around in between 250 and 350 or 400. Those days, these where not the total team score. Those were like the total score of first 3 - 4 batsmen of team while batting when others are still waiting in the dugouts to bat. Now there is no situations like put your life to draw the match or to win. They all try to finish it as early as possible. That’s why people who watched, felt, lived and experienced pure form of cricket still praising those players and cricket of those times. It not against the new gens. You guys always take it like personal. These days, every batsman is trying to hit 2 sixes in a single ball. Back in the days, 6 and 4s can be scored by running between the wickets. That’s the difference. Every bowlers now are trying to bowl every ball 140 km/h + and bowl like machines. Nothing legendary. Once the cancer T20 came in, cricket passed away. It will not come back to its purest from.

England is way more bowler friendly, australia is way more bowler friendly, india is way more bowler friendly. There is no doubt about the quality of the batsmen in that era but they also played on very helpful wickets. Also u have to realise more teams are opting for a 5 bowler strategy, which is also a reason for shortened test matches. Stop criticising t20 and use ur brain. T20 brought in a whole new fanbase, been a massive revenue boost, allowed cricket to enter markets never seen before, such as europe and north america.

I remember this match. It wasn't ideal condition for batting still India opted to bat. It was a bold decision. But Indian batsmen played superbly. Sanjay Bangar played really well in the morning looking at the condition.... Michael Vaughan and Rahul Dravid were really brilliant in the series with 600+ runs each in the series. I believe Michael Vaughan won the man of the series

I am yet to see a similar batting performance from the current generation Indian batters. The conditions were ideal for fast bowlers. Bangar and Dravid stone walled for an entire day in those conditions. Then the Trifecta Dravid, Tendulkar and Ganguly fired in unison. The bowlers with the cushion of 600 runs did the rest. One of my cherished and satisfying wins by the Indian team. Current team folding like a pack of cards in two WTC finals and blaming conditions.

But on such pitches, international batsmen don't give wickets this easily, especially the big 4 of Indian cricket, all excellent batsmen. Also, a test finishing in 2 days has a very dangerous pitch, the ball moves an awful lot, like the recent australia vs south africa match at Brisbane, where the movement with a newish ball was virtually unplayable, and only way to score was to attack consistently

It was actually a right decision.. every team here played with their pace bowler in this ground as per history but Ganguly broke that tradition and played with 2 spinner which shocked everyone.. The result was Indian won the test.. It is because of these kind of brave decisions Ganguly is one of most succesful teat captain overseas.. Azhar, dhoni, sachin were not that successful test captain in overseas.. Infact captain like dhoni was never a successful test captain overseas and have a 13-0 whitewash loss records including 4-0 losses in eng and aus, 2-0 losses in nz.. Ganguly on other hand dominated overseas test series in eng, aus, west indies, also in pakistan etc against all best teams of that era..
