What a fantastic opportunity for you to experience! I wish you all the best Warm clothing is required! Maybe layers, hats, gloves, scarves etc.I am originally from the U.k.,but I now live in N.W. Victoria where it too gets very cold in winter. Just keep warm and enjoy your time ! I look forward to following your adventure.

Thank you!! I cannot wait to get over there and explore! But there's going to be many, many layers of clothing involved 😂

Take a lovely blank journal and special pens...video and digital is great but there is something evocative in handwriting on paper (and maybe tucking in scraps of paper and fabric etc) If I were to do this-I would ensure that I take the most comfortable clothes because as an intensive program, you want to not think about what you are wearing and don't want to spend your time (and money) on the mundane. You want to acquire the special or unusual. Also unless you are absolutely wedded to some item, remember anything you need you can get in England ....For example in Abby Cox's video of KZbin creators gift guide, Zack Pinsent of Pinsent Tailoring recommends stork scissors by Ernest Wright Co. (England). I love John James needles (England) Save precious space and weight and acquire anything special there-they do have thrift shops...where you just might find a key to your grandmother's machine. Enjoy!

Ohhh I love the idea of a journal into which I can tuck some scraps of things I work on over there... that's definitely going to happen, thank you for the suggestion!! ❤️ And I most certainly am going to raid the thrift shops, I've always found the UK ones so much better than Australian ones!

Wow! I couldn’t click fast enough to hear the whole scoop. Congratulations! Your future self will thank you for investing the money in this experience. Bring well-fitting, comfy, waterproof shoes. (Bonus points if they’re cute, too!)

Definitely need cute but waterproof boots!! Without a car, there's going to be a lot of exploration by foot in my future! ❤️

Goodluck, I'm from the UK. Prepare yourself for cold (layer up, thin layers and thick ones, is my suggestion). Hope you have fun and look forward to your content. York is a gorgeous old place.

It's going to be such a shock for my poor Aussie system! I'm for sure gonna to have to layer up so much, I'll look like a marshmallow!!

@@bronwynemma lol it'll be fun though. I really do suggest thin ans thick layers as it's freezing outside but inside it's usually quite warm and many people get caught out when your going in and out of buildings. Tights under tights are your friend!👍

You will definitely get wind and mist, but, unfortunately, plenty of rain. York and the surrounding area will give you many photographic opportunities. I can lend you a sewing machine-for the duration of your course/stay, an elna like yours or a more modern lighter weight one.

Rain is pretty too... 😂 And thank you for your offer of a loaned sewing machine, depending on my packing skills, I may take you up on that if you're near York!! ❤️

That’s so exciting! I did a couture sewing course in America 11 years ago and it was the best experience. Def take your own scissors and machine if you can. I missed both of those when I did my course 😊

Good to know about scissors and machine, thank you!! Also wonderful to hear that your course was amazing, makes me feel better about spending all my money going to one 😜

Some sewing machine stores will loan out used sewing machines on a monthly basis. It’s inexpensive - my sister did it for $20 - so you don’t have to cart one along with you.

You’re probably there by now but I just found this video. Defiantly take your own cutting tool like you already said. My only other suggestion would be to take a pillow or blanket from your room, something that smells like home, smells and feels familiar so you can fall asleep easily the first few nights/week until you’re settled in.

My own scissors have proven invaluable and I'm very glad I brought them! I didn't think to bring something homey with me, which is a brilliant idea and I wish I had. Next time!! 😊

Haya. WOW, what an incredible time you will have, travel beats a house any time 😀Take an empty journal maybe, then you can write down there & then all your thoughts & adventures as they magically unfold 🤩There are lots of Op/Thrift stores in the UK, a bunch of History pretty much everywhere. Take a couple favorite phots, all the small things that are comfortable for you in your sewing. What month are you leaving? Thanku 'sew' much for sharing 🪡🧵x
