@@giuseppedl9049 I'm a Muslim that's interested in this topic but what's so important about his eye colour?? If he has blue eyes it does not mean that Ceaser was of Northern European descent (I know that is what you are most concerned about). He is still very much a Meditteranean Southern European man. You are aware that blue eyes didn't originate in Northern Europe from the start right? There were already blue eyes within the Persian empire, Mesopotamia, Phoenicia, Greece (All periods), so relax would you with the blue eyes issue. As long as the overall facial structure and appearance is of a European man and not some black man, I see no problem with the inaccuracy of his eye colour. You make a big deal as if is such a big issue, and pretend that there were no blue eyes at all in the Meditteranean. It is NOT the majority but the fact remains there were Meditteranean people with blue eyes without any mixture of Northern Europeans. So just relax.

I really love this video. I just saw a news article about how originally Greek and Roman statues were painted. But when the statues were found they were washed to clean the dirt off.But that also washed away the paint. Curators at museums wondered about some of the statues have unique markings they took samples and found out the statues secret.

So many comments regarding coloring of skin, hair, and eyes! I lived for many years in Italy, and while most are dark haired with brown eyes, l also met people in the North (Milan for example) that could have passed for Skandinavians, almost white-blond, blue eyes, blond lashes and eyebrows. It's a regional thing. Also, fashionable women in ancient times wore often wigs, blond and reds were favorites. The hair was "harvested" from foreign slaves, prisoners of war. The Roman Empire annexed so many foreign tribes, there might as well have been an influx of nordic genes. As for Julius Caesar, in one biography he's described as having penetrating grey-blue eyes, in another one, dark brown. We'll never know for sure.

What strikes me is how nearly all are given blond hair and blue eyes. Most of the Roman and Greek features shown in the sculptures are prevalant in modern day Italy and Greece. And those modern samples who have the same features as the ancient ones are dark haired, darker skin and eye hues. This rendering has idealized them, perhaps thinking blond and blue is better? obviously not.

Hello Dear, I have a question: Is the goal to make a stone statue's face look alive or do you want to give us an idea how the real alive person may have looked based on the sculptured portrait? I have a suggestion: Beside the lively faces you show already now beside the stone heads you could (please) still add a third portrayal showing the more real life face. I explain: To see the stone face turn into flesh with blinking eyes etc is already very nice and interesting. BUT... there is obviously an idealization made already in the stone sculpture and you seem to just leave it this way in your interpretation as a face in flesh. The ancient artists definitely reduced the mouths on most of their sculptured portraits. Not always.. but very often. This was felt to be more appropriate for a representation of somebody gazed at by many. To me this makes the faces of these Ladies look like porcelain dolls. The mouths are probably half the size of the reality. Eyes may have been a bit enlarged .. So.. what do you think? It will make your good videos even more valuable. Just add the "Real Life Suggestion" version Nbr 3 show after the "Stone turned into flesh" version. To enlarge a bit the mouths and sometimes reduce a bit the oversized eye globes is probably easy for you. Thank you. I like to see more of your work.

I find it interesting, that their features show their imperfections even though they represent a certain immage of beauty in style and time. The artists didn't corrected a to big nose or asymetics in their faces. Not totaly idealised.

They knew back then perfect symetry is boring and our imperfections make us unique and interesting. Now it's filters everywhere, everyone looks the same.
