Highly instructive and beautifully narrated, just a fantastic game and video. What a turnabout! Thanks Professor! [Pronunciation of HODGES was perfect, btw.] One edit: SYPHILIS is NOT a Virus, but a Bacterium. Hence, syphilis became easily treatable with the discovery of Penicillin by Alexander Fleming in 1928. Too late for HNP, sadly.

Well I learned something new thanks to you dear Jeff at the age of 34. They say the Mafia boss Al Capone was one of the first patients who was treated by the Penicillin. Now tell me is this not super interesting!!! At least I have read something like this long before.

Unusual to see Pillsbury embarrassed like this.

Sir, sorry but you made a mistake in your analises: it's not possible queen on D4, because white queen take on B7 is mate, of course...

I thought this at first too but Qxb7 is not mate. There is a black rook on h7 stopping it.

Yes, you have missed the rook on the 7th rank defending.

You say Qd4 was the right move in critical position instead of G4...but then you give ZERO explanation why it is a GREAT move...at the 7 minute mark

after 7:30 minute mark I'm explaining that, but it is not the best explanation I agree, sometimes I get confused and get distracted and it affects my speech when that happens. But basically after Qd4 black defends everything especially defending whites Qc5! threat.

Hodges was NEVER a legendary player, but a very good player...Do you know chess history ???? Pillsbury yes, Definitely a Legend, who EVEN impressed a 10 year old Capablanca when he was doing his exhibition in Cuba... .......he won his 1st international tournament at 23..ahead of Lasker, Seinitz , Chigorin....etc..

Actually Hodges should never be underestimated, he never took chess seriously, retired at a very early age and yet he was quite succesfull and he was the operator of Ajeeb which was super interesting. He even beat Emanuel Lasker at one time. But Pillsbury was the real Legend in this pairing I agree and he was the much superior player.
