You could look at them in a contemporary way, or in a traditional way. It’s up to you to correlate the two to begin to make sense of it all. There is always conflict between the past, (was that true), and the present, (is that true). You have the freedom to decide, in your own mind; what YOU perceive to be the truth. In other words, YOU decide for yourself but, always keep in mind that you might be wrong on some things. No one can be right 100% of the time. Formulate your own opinions but, always be open to others opinions. Listen to what they have to say, see how that fits in with your views, you’ll quickly learn how to ‘dovetail’ their opinions into your own train of thought. Your own thoughts and opinions matter.

I too loved physics and chemistry at my girl’s convent grammar school. Eventually I did Pure Maths,English and French at A level, and at university studied Honours English involving Anglosaxon up to modern literature and also American literature, but also studied Philosophy and logic. It makes you a critical reader and thinker! It’s sad that they don’t do actual experiments in the sciences now as that was the part I loved! It’s very tame just watching a teacher do them.
@lindosland3 жыл бұрын
@@kathleenstern6822 Yes, it makes you a proper critical thinker. Electronic design is very good for that too, because what you build fails to work until you get everything just right - those demon electrons are testing you out all the way; no teacher required! Do they really not do actual experiments?! We did lots, including micro-analysis in chemistry which was really quite intricate to get right. I have several grandkids I am close to in early years of secondary school, so I will ask them more about this. I believe that rational thinking is something that has to develop in the brain through synaptic pruning, which leaves only the most used network of connections. It isn't something you learn in the intellectual sense, it operates unconsciously in those who acquire the right brain structure for it. Those who don't acquire this network early just don't have logical thought, and are susceptible to the nonsense of postmodernism instilled by words alone.

His historical insights, original thinking, and attention to facts (not emotion) and their understanding (i.e. scholarship) seem to make him almost a throwback these days. When he was "cancelled" I initially thought "hmmm - you should not use language like that", but then I listened to his explanation of the context and what he actually said on Peter Whittle's show, and it became crystal clear that he was a victim of a baying mob of nostril-flaring brainwashed drones. I am glad this channel is here, and glad that he has not really been "cancelled". Seems to me that if this "cancel culture" thing is taken to its logical conclusion, then every person with charisma, wit, original thinking, opinions - basically everything that makes an individual interesting, will be marginalised.
