Ohh yes the roaring 20s! I'm glad there's no more outlawing liquor! I need my vodka and oj every now and then!

Hollywood and popular culture arguably vastly overlays the prominence of speakeasies and the culture surrounding them. The benefits in comparison were overwhelmingly positive. But of course, FDR got rid of it since he figured it was a better idea to try and get revenue from it’s sale, but also to ensure that the population was at least more passive and focused in their anger during the Great Depression, which he helped prolong.

I went to a "modern" speakeasy when I was lived in Guam. They had a early curfew when I was there and there were secret lounges

@@sethrussell6393 nah they raised the drinking age to 21, stop the sell of alchohol from 2am -8am. Previously the drinking age was 18 The clubs were open until 4-5am -- afterwards they were closing at 1am -1:45am.

Trying to compare alcohol deaths with illegal drug deaths is disingenuous. Alcohol is legal. Drugs on the other hand are illegal and therefore harder to acquire. And legalizing street drugs is rather undefined. Legalizing in what way? Like milk? Like OTC drugs? Like prescription drugs? Let's not confuse legalization with decriminalization, two different birds.
