I really hate how Hitler's name can't be said even in an educational context. He's a real significant and yes, awful person in history but it's pretty stupid to censor his name actively on KZbin and other sites through demonization. We're basically treating him like Voldemort.
@KhAnubis

Honestly I probably could get away with mentioning him (my videos don‘t actually get demonetized that much) but I completely agree that, although this was by no means intentional, it still sets a dangerous precedent.
@tibbygaycat

It's a symptom. For example any gay or lesbian or queer content of any type is demonetized because the mere existence of those people is controversial apparently, and so they shouldn't be allowed to talk about their own existence. KZbin is just in it for money and that isn't a good thing for anyone else.

You can of course say his name and party name in Germany, you just can't do the hitlergruß, draw, wear or in other ways use a swastika or sing the whole deutschlandlied. It's kind of just integrated into the hill, but still rises above it a bunch. It's probably one of my favourite spots in the city! Great view over the North of Berlin from up there. It's also free to go up there and it's always open, so yeah. Going there on the way home after a night of partying to watch the sunrise and drink a Sterni is the best.

A bunch, yeah. Biggest one is Teufelsberg (Devil's Mountain), I think. There's a cool old spy station on top with art and grafitti eeeeeverywhere. You gotta pay an entrance fee to see the station though, and it's only open as long as the sun is up. If you wanna have a great view and not pay for it, you gotta go to Drachenberg (Dragon's Mountain), which is the second highest hill in that area, very close to Teufelsberg. It's a huge plateau. I love it up there, great view.

The conflict between Spandau and the rest of Berlin is legendary - Spandau was the eastern-most stronghold of the wendish _Svatodorans_ who lived west of the Havel river, while the rest of Berlin belonged to the Sprevjane (capital at Köpenick). The Poles helped Jaxa of Köpenick (leader of the Sprevjane) to overthrow the Svatodorans to take their throne in Brandenburg, however he was quickly defeated by Albrecht the Bear (Saxon king) who used this move to declare the foundation the Mark Brandenburg as it's own feudal entity. There where many attempts of creating order in the _Germania Slavica,_ both from Slavs (i.e. Veleti Union) or Germans/Franks (i.e. Nordmark), however the Mark Brandenburg was here to stay.

@@ArmandoTravel That's true! That doesn't change the fact that he mentioned the Holocaust and Hitler multiple times using alternate names out of his stated desire to avoid being demonetized. The Holocaust is a part of the history of Berlin, and while I understand why the video's author made his choice, I fear it's a part of a wider trend to avoid talking about troubling things that the algorithm deems offensive to advertisers.

@@idedimi The internet is full of books, films, sites, testimonies, etc... so everybody on earth has heard about the holocaust and for those like me who like to study that part of our history hearing about it every single time I try to study other events of WW2 destroyed all the interest I had for it and now it has become completely intolerable. First it's as if nobody else suffered in that war, that doesn't make sense and it's extreemely cruel for those who are kept aside. Second, I was born in a society where freedom of speech was a basic human right, at 60 telling me that I lost t at right and that there are now words I can't say and discussions I can't have angers me profoundly and I'm not alone, those who try to shut us up should know that not only it doesn't work, but it has the opposite effect...

Third could you explain to me what the heck is going on in Palestine, how can a people who have around 300 nukes use the right to exist to murder children whose only defence is throwing stones at tanks while buldozers are crushing their homes to make room for settlements so illegal that old friends and even some members of their own community refuse to be part of any of that so if you want to hear about suffering, genocide and stories that don't always make sense, I 'm sure you know hundreds of sites specialized on that topic alone and please, leave Berlin and her people alone, 80 years of constant accusations and harassment is more than enough and could you please tell the next filmmaker you meet that the German women and chldren who had nothing to do with the war and committed no crime suffered a lot too so a few videos about them would be very nice, it's their turn to tell their story... have you ever heard their story? NO? WHY?
@idedimi
@idedimi Жыл бұрын
@@rosesprog1722 you're right! the freedom of speech and the freedom of information are necessary to address injustice. we can't prevent or address atrocities if we aren't able to speak about them. that sentiment is in line with my original comment. to respond to your concern about Palestine: I agree! those injustices must also be addressed. to respond to your concern about my knowledge of German suffering during the war: I recommend the documentary Berlin 1945! primary sources only, it's a very interesting representation of the German experience of the war.

Yes, Berlin was bombed 314 times... like maybe 23 or 51 would have been enough maybe??? Yesterday I saw a video of life in Berlin in March or April 1945... I was almost afraid to look at the beginning so when I finally opened my eyes, I saw 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.. So I rewinded it, (I'm stuck at cassette tapes) and pushed play.... I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing, the people were all enjoying themselves, outside (he he, that was really mean) chilling out at a coffee shop, or sitting at a nice terrasse having a good glass of red (depending on the re-colorization) everybody was very nicely dressed, showing off on a huge dance floor dancing 2 by 2 (ladies only) (I-AM-SO-MEAN, he he he) but when I saw that the beach was still open and full of people I thought ALRIGHT, they didn't get this one! I never saw Berlin and I really wish I could go, but I don't have to, these VHS tapes are a great adventure just the same! Thanks, your vocabulary creations were the funniest and the saddest in the same word, at the same time... That was beautiful, thank you.
