My dad worked for Chevrolet for 42 years. Started at the Corvette Assembly Plant in St.Louis, Missouri 1965. Corvette moved to Bowling Green, KY in 1981 and he worked there until he retired. He was a electrician and maintenance foreman. In 1988 he bought a new Chevy S10 5 speed truck. He bought it to drive back and forth to work at the plant. I still own that truck and drive it every day. The red paint was all faded and the little iron 4 cylinder engine was quite tired. So I had the engine rebuilt and a new victory red paint job put on it. Now it’s the best looking and best preserved S10 around here. Looks just like it did the day he bought it new 👍🏻. Somebody tries to buy it everywhere I go but I always say sorry it’s not for sale. I been riding in it since I was 2 years old and driving it since I could reach the pedals. It’s a member of the family

My dream car is a 1969/1970 Chevelle SS 396. Fast, better handling than the 454, and drop dead gorgeous!
@weskirkland58502 жыл бұрын
454 and 396 weigh the same. handling would be the same. small blocks up to 350 cubes would handle better but have less power.

Same here, at first not really by choice, but because of a good price and it had good features. First car was a '71 Impala. It ended up being a great car built like a tank and I kept it 20 years. Then I got a '91 Chevy pickup, drove it 14 years, then bought an '05 Chevy truck, which I still drive. So I've only had three vehicles my entire life and they were all Chevy's. I would have kept the other two also, but I was stupid and listened to friends and family telling me "they're old, get a new one". I wish I would have kept them.

In 1973 a friend told me that he was hired by General Motors to develop a material for their seats that would only last about 5 years. They still practice "planned obsolescence", along with other American auto makers. An obvious example is their partially plastic radiators.

chev have allways built cheap cars for the masses,worse than ford did.even in a 70,s mag,chev was the poor mans car,ford for the office worker,dodge for the boss.i drive ford & dodge,.i nearly bought a corvette,till i saw one on a hoist,& inspected the rear 1876 rear suspension single leaf,from a chuck wagon.but,if i had the money & found a 73,ish,454 corvette,id buy it,as they are 4 wheel disc,no boot,no back seat,no door handles,,a real sports car,.but the dream,is a pantera..present now is a 73 r/t chall,340..

The first car I remember was when my parents bought a new '50 Chevy. It had the "dip and splash" straight 6 cylinder. It was a good car. Then, in '57, they bought a new 57 Chevy. It had the Power Pack 283 V8. A gigantic 4 barrel carburetor. Mileage was horrible, but who cared in the late '50's. Gas was around 25 cents per gallon.

Chevrolet has a century long tradition of better style for the same price, still continues today. My 2014 Cruze 2LT has a turbo 16v. engine and has no manufacturer issues after 6.5 years, power, luxury, and economy. My wife's Sonic , the same, great looks, performance, and quality, 4 yrs on no issues. Who needs Toyota or Honda? I sure don't.

Chevrolet built some nice classic cars my personal favorite is the 1962 Corvette. Chevrolet has not built much if anything since the Mid 1970s worth owning. However, I would recommend anyone buying a "modern" Chevrolet buy yourself a good pair of shoes because you will be walking soon this based on my personal experience with 2 chevy S-10s and one Chevrolet Malibu and also bad experiences of friends and co-workers with the Chevrolet brand.

not worth owning since 1970? lol speak for yourself bud. i have a 98 monte carlo that i paid 2400 for and after 4 years with 190k miles. its still chugging along. i have even bounced this car off the ground and it didn't cause any damage except maybe making the alignment a little worse. cosmetically the car has gone to complete shit, but the engine just keeps going and going. and since i bought it the only things i have had to do were basic maintenance stuff. i now have a 2000 camaro that if i take just as good as car of it as i tried too with the monte carlo im sure it will last just as long. but like i said the monte carlo still runs fine and im giving it too my sister and law so she has a car to use.

Let's see 1954,57,58,61,63,65and73 yep chevrolets have definitely been in my life !, somehow the newer Chevrolet s don't knock me on my ass like the old ones did but I think that could change if I got a chance to drive one of the new Camaro s or Corvette s but nowadays Chevrolet is making more money with trucks and SUVs and yes I would agree that Chevy trucks are just as important to the Chevrolet story as the cars are!

Today of Dec 27th 2019, I saw a new Chevy Equanox catch on fire. The SUV rear ended a Japanese car; maybe it was a Toyota or a Nissan, I am not sure. The collision didn't seem that bad. There was some damage on the Japanese sedan but not severe. The Chevy Equinox was in flames, fire rescued took care of it. But I wonder why did that new Chevy Equinox caught on fire in such a low rate speed collusion. I personally would never buy a Gm Product, I have my reasons.
