What a great production. The full final closedown sequence of Big L at the end of the video is, for me, one of the most evocative moments in British commercial radio history. I was honoured to work with Alan Keen and he was every bit the enthusiastic, passionate, professional who you see here.

GREAT !....without a doubt....but with the amazing music that was around then,you could hardly go wrong....best thing was, these guys did it most of the time alone at the mic, and unlike these days, didn't need lame inadequate sidekicks to 'spice' things up...

Radio London -- Best Radio Station Ever. - A Crime to close it down!

Last song played by Radio London was ‘A Day In The Life’, at the time banned from airplay by the BBC. I know this because I heard it live!

Interesting to note in the credits (34.19) that Ben Toney has been listed as TONEY BENN (PD at launch of Radio London) !! Ironic?

Fred Freddy I noticed that too. Lol. This still breaks my heart. Had a huge effect on me. I was 14 in 1967 when BigL closed down.

I would really like to know who had the crazy idea to straddle two channels causing the 4.5 khz whistle and making early evening listening impossible, and why Kenny Everett was sacked for ridiculing the risible Armstrong religious nut programme.

The World Tomorrow was a win-win deal. If you played out the programme, you got to keep the tape. Tape was expensive, tape was essential especially for Everett who used it so creatively, and this tape was free. He bit that hand that fed him, so they fired him.
