This is where Duel Links starts getting hazy for me, well, maybe just after this. Once Master Duel was out, I had no reason to pay attention anymore so I'm interested to see how the Arc-V and VRAINS eras shaked out, but I'm glad you got back to this project!

The irony in this video for me personally is that THIS SERIES is actually why I ended up giving Duel Links a try specially at the point when Quatro was added to the game. I had long given up on Yugioh early into Zexal era (...even more ironic, only realized that as I was typing this) and seeing the ups and downs of the game just left a curiosity floating in my brain till eventually I was bored at work and figured... eeeeeh why not? That said I never knew about the drought, never noticed and it actually kinda worked as a good buffer to allow me to get some cards, build some decks and get a groove for how to play yugioh and see some degree of success. As someone who got back into the game, the Harpie format made things very easy for understanding more complex combos and the deck was fairly easy to build for a newcomer while still be able to compete. So for me, as someone who got into this game at this point and thanks to your videos no less, the general tone that the community was being shot in the foot and the game was 'dying' feels... quant to me. I generally was having a really good time and while a lot of attention has shifted away I also feel like its trimmed the fat of people who might've otherwise brought in a toxic atmosphere and the olive branches of communities and creators who have filled the gaps left behind by the old guard I think have done a lot of good for the silver age that Duel Links entered. Master Duel did have a lot of people shaking but even that game now has rust on its corners and its own sets of problems and draw backs. it's just another way to play the game and Duel Links for me offers a flavor of yugioh that frankly, I can actually handle. So it was exciting waiting for the point when I actually joined in. So here's to the future because while I know Duel Links isn't the view hit maker it used to be, it WAS thanks to you that I'm back into the game and I hope if nothing else it can show there is reason to keep going with at least History of Duel Links (though DL Progression Series was a ton of fun to watch too).

I so exited to see what's next in this game's history! I dropped Duel Links around the time of the end of Zexal era, mostly because of my unhealthy relationship with mobile games at the time and I returned literally the day before Extra monster zones were added, so I am at least existed to see what I missed in terms of cards and content, and also but also meta, but the interesting thing for this whole series, because I wasn't following it meta at all. So yeah, really enjoyed the video(and the series) and I am excited to see what's next!

same, built harpies when the box just came out, enjoyed dominating for about half a year. milked all the gems out of 90% of characters, got most of the hot staples at the time (triple floodgate, triple book, etc.) then when phantom knights came out harpies and most of the decks i built were already far from being meta. and that is the natural course of a tryhard duel links acc. it was nice while it lasted. no more fast ways to farm gems.

a lot of ppl criticize this era cause of the lack of releases but to people like me who just picked Yugioh after a long time it felt nice to not have a new tier 1 deck released after every new box, since u had lots of time to adapt, learn and adjust to the current state of the game + the decks u built even if they were meta didnt get insta hit on the banlist, unlike nowadays with mekknights being nerfed to the ground after few months since their release. I remember building harpies when the box came out and they were tournament-worthy for an entire year before egotist and nest both got hit

A thing of note about the hit to gagaga head: people were trying to counter the otk variant by maxing out on gagaga head and a more control variant at the time with some success, leading people to counter onomat with more onomat and making the deck snowball even more into its tier 0 status.

I played against exactly one Red Nova player. He did some megaplay to get Red Nova Dragon in the field on the first turn. I felt bad for him because he spent so much time doing all of that, only for me to OTK him with my Lunalight deck by zeroing his ATK points with Crimson Fox.

Secrets of Eternity was released in January 2015. This set introduced the Infernoids, a series of monsters that can special summon themselves to the field by banishing other Infernoid monsters from either the hand or the graveyard. Notable cards in this set include Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Qliphort Monolith, Uni-Zombie, Nephe Shaddoll Fusion and a card that would bolster Satellarknight to combat the Burning Abyss Shaddoll Meta, Stellarknight Constellar Diamond. In this series both Nyhmnim and myself will be opening 24 booster packs or one box of a core Yu-Gi-Oh! booster set. We will build a deck and play a best two out of three and the winner will receive a small price to upgrade their deck. However in each episode we will open another box of the next set that was released, moving in chronological order, constantly upgrading our decks before dueling each other at the end of each episode. This is the Yu-Gi-Oh! Progression Series.

Now this was a really good video! and nice to see how DL History went again during this time. one more thing to point out with Triamid. another reason to use a field spell skill was that it worked with Triamid Pulse. Also Gimmick puppets and Chronomaly. Loved both decks but ya sadly neither were that good though I doubt many was shocked by that at the time. Still had fun with them! At the very least Kagemucha Knight from Arts of Atlantis would be pretty good for Phantom Knights down the line. Oh and some Water players while this was just a meme deck were playing around with Acid Golem. there was a version where you would summon Bahamut Shark then use its effect to summon Acid Golem then use a card like mystic box to give acid golem to your opponent. Was this Good or seen any actual competitive results? Nope not really but it did exist and was somewhat funny. Also I do think its worth pointing out while many for sure cheered at hey Trunade being banned. There was also a fair amount who did not like the fact it was banned with some even going as far as to say it was needed to stop backrow in the game. but ya Onomat tier 0 was not a fun time for many but then it being followed by such a long format with harpies as best deck so to speak for quite a while did not help.

Man, ZEXAL era was a real low point in Duel Links. Thankfully the game got way better once Arc-V came around and Phantom Knights shook up the meta. It took Master Duel to basically kill Duel Links for a while for Konami to realize that they needed to shake things up to keep their Duel Links playerbase. The meta where D/D/D and BA were the best decks were the most fun I've had in a long while. Too bad the current meta is pretty boring imho. Though it's probably more due to the presence of modern YGO elements since none of the top decks really took advantage of the usual BS skills from Duel Links other than Galaxy Eyes players.
