My family in Louisiana was there before it was a state. They started in Washington Parish and eventually ended up in St. Tammany Parish. A lot of those folks are in a family Cemetery in Stateline. I need to go visit these places soon

My Aunt Cleo had a material shop on the corner of one of the main streets in town. Franklinton is also where the State Fair is held every year in mid to late October.

I work there 5 days a week. Most have a Mississippi redneck accent. Hell Governor blank stair Blanco thought Washington parish was part of Mississippi during the Hurricane Katrina aftermath.

Franklinton also has The worlds largest Free Fair every year in October the 3week of October pay to park (citizens open there lawns up so you pay to park) but free admission free concerts Rodeo nights at the fair sell out fast you can get tickets online or from a future Rodeo queen contestant Washington Parish Hot Air Balloon Festival Washington Parish Watermelon Festival Mile Brach Christmas Festival The best Christmas Parade all lit up We have Bogue Chitto State Park Zona Atv recreational Park White Sand Beach Louisiana River Adventures ( tubing down the river) Riverbend Campground/wedding venue BOGUE CHITTO SWAMP CABINS (log cabins very nice on the river) Varnado Museum in Franklinton Stop by Washington Parish Tourism for information if you get to visit our town of Franklinton.
