Though born in Texas, from age 12 I grew up in Houma and Lafayette ... fishing and hunting the bayous, basins and marshes all along the coast. Always partying and working the oil fields. Life was good and the people were a treasure. My brother and I married 2 Cajun girls, an Alleman and a Arceneaux, and raised our families there. I've since moved away .... but your stories rekindle everything I love so much about Louisiana and remind me of my eternal second home. Thanks and may your life be filled with lagniappe!

I lived and worked in New Iberia in the late 70s and early 80s, I loved the place and still have close friends there. Just seeing videos like this brings back many memories, I will always cherish my time there.

I’m an Iberia Parish native, from Loreauville right up the Teche from New Iberia. I recommend that you look into the new findings about Fausse Pointe, present day Loreauville, being the original settlement of the Acadians. It’s real interesting stuff. I think the work was done by Dr. Rees from UL Lafayette

I live in New Iberia. All 4 of my grandparents came from the Bayou Petit Anse/Lake Peigneur area. They were farmers. I guess they would be referred to as the “Prairie Cajuns.” 😊

I'm researching the Family name Boscho. I've found the name Bosch but not Boscho. Would the O be dropped on the last name over time? I am researching a women buried in New Orleans named Marie Boscho she passed in 1918. She was known as Tinka..Gypsy Queen. The word Tinka means little girl or daughter in Irish. There isn't much history about her and nothing about her family. I live in New Iberia and I am researching who she was. Im not finding anything, really. This Women/girl has my heart and I cant explain why I have this driving force to find out about her. I feel there is some rich history about who she was. There is reference to her in the book Gumbo ya-ya. Also Leonard Huber mentions her in one of his books...Anyone here know who I'm talking about? The only Boscho I found was referenced as one of the knights Templers Giacomo de Boscho...and I found nothing about this Man. I have to find out who she is how she made it here to Louisiana and buried in New Orleans my heart won't let it go. Can anyone help me?

My 4 great grandfather was one of the union soldiers encamped at the shadows. Hecwas in the 53 Massachusetts . He came back to Louisiana after the war to central Louisiana. I lived in new iberia 14 years. Great place and greater still people.

More than likely they were Cannibals. Many tribes across the country ate humans. It's not reported often and most of the books that were written about it are no longer published. Native Americans didn't drop out of the sky or spring from the earth like an apple tree. They migrated here, so why is there migration considered sacrosanct? They raged war on each other, captured, enslaved, butchered and ate each other. They were in no way this homogenous society living as one with mother earth and father sky. That's just a lie.
