Wonderful video, informative and fascinating! The Harbor Islands are incredible; DCR is doing everything right to enhance Boston with these Islands. I love the music in the summer, fried clams & lobster, Fort Warren, camping on Peddocks...everything.

As a young family in the early 1950's we used what we knew as George's Island as our private play ground. My father would come in with the tide and my brother's and I would either wade or swim in to our very own private Island, our favorite place all summer year after year never anyone but us. We got to know the 'Fort' very well but only as a place for keeping prisoners of the Confederate Army. My father would warn us not to go into what he call "the dungeons". We were young and my brothers would leave their little sister as they ran into the tunnels. I would wander myself down into what I thought was the 'mess halls' still as I recall large picnic kind of tables and benches. I thought the walls were painted with murals of soldiers dressed in grey uniforms, quiet and still. Once I was racing with my brothers to go through the tunnels that would take us out to the beach where we were to see our father's boat anchored where we could have to swim or wade out for he would whistle and we would have to come or 'be 'left behind'. My brothers ran faster than I so I was left in the parade ground that was filled with gravel and tall weeds. I stood at the opening of the dark tunnel yelling that I was going to tell Mama on them when I felt a sting on my belly, I lifted my blouse to see a huge bumble bee that had stung me. I screamed and began to cry. Suddenly I saw the long tall grass fall away as if someone I could not see walking toward me, I watched not understanding but felt afraid and ran into the tunnel toward where my brothers went. Another time I would climb onto the wall of the fort and walk the edge of the walls. The seagulls for years would let their clams fall and break onto the granite and of course would poop white slim. One time as I walked the tall wall I slipped and fell. I caught myself on the edge but didn't have the strength to pull myself up and yelled for help but too far to be heard, then I felt a pull on my arms lifting me up on the wall. I never told anyone these stories. But aside from the footfalls and the helping up the wall I never knew there wasn't murals of the Confederate soldiers and I know believe I wasn't at the young age of 5 or 6 was actually seeing the ghosts of the men.

Our “Distinguished” historian seems to know nothing about Starforts! Lol. Nothing new under the sun/son. Not once is the term “ Starfort” even mentioned in this video. So much for our historian peddling this false narrative.
