Update 11.19.2020: It's confirmed!!! New 007 game has finally been announced! Created by IOInteractive, and simply called "007 Project." Get hyped!!! RIP Sean Connery. Update: Had to completely cut out the awesome intro sequence I created for this video, along with the beautiful animation Syfydan created for me. But I shall hold on to the original version of the video myself :) If you liked the work I did here - please help support the channel by becoming a member of my Patreon. A simple dollar a month can help tremendously with my work - as funding from it helps me afford better equipment and resources to continuously improve these documentaries. You can even sign up to gain early access, a private discord to hang out and participate in the multiplayer portions of these videos, and shout-outs! Check it out here: www.patreon.com/Nick930 Thanks for tuning in everybody! This project took an insane amount of time and effort to pull together. I actually intended to make this last February but wanted to really dive deep in the franchise by going through each and every film as well. This was a lot of fun to make - and I really hope a developer takes interest in this franchise again. The final section of this particular video includes a breakdown of what I feel would make for a great 007 game, and I would love to hear your ideas of what you feel would be the right step. Also - from the poll I conducted a few weeks back, the winner was predictably "GoldenEye 1997," with Nightfire and Everything or Nothing coming in at 2nd and 3rd from waaay behind. Expected a bit more of an even split - but that just goes to show how insanely important GoldenEye was to the gaming industry. After watching this, does your opinion still stand, or is there another game in the series you're interested in trying out? Let me know!

Hitman 2 engine would be perfect for Bond. Replace 47 with Bond, you can do the entire history of Bond, although stages would take awhile to make considering how meticulous IOI is. At the end of the day, James Bond is both an agent of espionage as well as an assassin, as they mention multiple times in the books and films. Both of these aspects can be incorporated into a hitman game. Shoot 'em ups are awesome and Goldeneye was a masterpiece that raised the bar for that particular genre, but if they wanted a game that followed a slower pace of the movies that could be matched to the odd shoot out, Hitman is indeed an excellent template.

yeah i considered that - but idk how the sandbox environments would transfer to the 007 experience. I was thinking Rocksteady could do a great 007 game. The Batman Arkham games are fantastic and I can see them reworking their design to function with 3rd person shooting mechanics instead (or even first person) A semi-open world like an Arkham Game, combined with 3rd person shooting mechanics like the ones in Max Payne 3 would be amazing (minus the slow motion diving) Edit: Well - sandbox style 007 it is! I'm surprised Bond never went the route of Metal Gear Solid. Have things start of with stealth, like how Snake was really weak with no weapons at the start of that game and eventually scale up, like how by about the halfway point, Snake was so geared out he was sniping snipers and taking down helicopters. Not to mention that the faux-history of the MGS story is practically inspired by movies like Bond.
@paulallen81094 жыл бұрын
Hideo Kojima (who made the MGS series) is a James Bond fan and in MGS3 one of the characters even asks Snake if he's seen "Goldfinger". However the character Snake is more based on Snake Plissken in "Escape from New York" and the first MGS game has a remarkably similar plot. Here are a few examples: 1. Former war veteran who is coerced/forced into taking a mission he has no interest in. 2. He has to secretly infiltrate a facility and rescue a president which he views with contempt. 3. A time limit of 18-20 hours before an important event happens and it's all over. 4. Having something implanted in the body which will kill him slightly before that time is over. 5. Character wise being of few words and disillusioned with war and those in charge. 6. Highly suspicious of the actual purpose of the mission and what he's not been told. The character Snake Plissken has turned rogue before the events of Escape from New York and doesn't believe in the politicians, military commanders and system he was merely a tool of. In the MGS games the character Big Boss (Old Snake) also has turned rogue and created his own nation of other disillusioned and disgruntled former soldiers who were used indifferently for reasons not clearly stated to them. And you'll need no more evidence than the fact Hideo Kojima himself says that Escape From New York is one of his favorite films. James Bond is pretty much the exact opposite. He goes to fancy hotels, night clubs and lives an opulent life. It's clear to him the villains must go down and in all the James Bond films prior to the Daniel Craig reboot ones he did it tongue-in-cheek as if it was just another day at work for him. He does what he does without question and rarely questions the orders he's been given by his superiors. "Have things start of with stealth" The problem is that James Bond isn't a very "stealthy" character. He presents himself to the villains, henchmen, women and allies in plain view. In the movies he keeps anything but a low profile since he's making a huge impression wherever he goes - even when he wins at cards at some casino. In most cases he even tells people his real name, which no secret agent ever would. James Bond movies are action adventures which are high on entertainment and low on realism. Bond goes to expensive places, wears designer clothes, meets beautiful women, talks to the villain, beats the henchman and foils the villain's plan. In the end he wins and enjoys the ending with some lady. Once you start making games who sway from the formula you miss the entire appeal of the character and you'll get somebody who is "James Bond in name only". "I'm surprised Bond never went the route of Metal Gear Solid." Because that would be an obvious knock-off.

One of the most underrated games of the last 2 decades honestly. Most people have also never even heard of it. It wasn't like any of the others and by lieu of that the others tarnish it very heavily as they were for the most part arcadey run and gun sims with a few clever gems sprinkled every now and again. In 35 years it's still one of the best co-ops I've ever played too, me and my brother used to try and get through without taking any damage and because of how tactical and realistic they made in compared to previous titles it was actually possible to do that with planning and discipline.

@@CoffeeFiend1 I couldn't agree, more, with all your points. Only difference being I'm only at 30 years, so far 😅. That game had amazing graphics. The cutscenes aside, you could pick up “The World is Not Enough” for N64 and play it today, with no issues.
@Nick9304 жыл бұрын
Eurocom was aiming for 60fps. They didn't meet that goal, but that was what they wanted to accomplish when they began development.

Everything or Nothing was one of the best Bond games I played while growing up - seems like they were unable to move forward and constantly look back at biggest hits for inspiration, which sadly never worked. At least the film series works well and is something everyone looks forward to. Great video, thanks for creating!
@TheTrailerCREAT0R4 жыл бұрын
So I finally finished the video and as always great job! If they ever made a future game a more open ended level based game would be the best similar to the Splinter Cell series and Hitman. With each level taking place in different parts of world and exotic locations. Also Alpha Protocol has been the closest we’ve gotten to a good non bond game with this concept in mind.

Great video. One thing I would add is how much Goldeneye's levels look EXACTLY like most of the iconic locations from the movie. Seriously impressive.

Lmao u made this vid just so u could make the cool thumbnail.
@Nick9304 жыл бұрын
Lol not really - ive had to rework the thumbnail about 50 times before landing on that design. I kept wanting to throw "Games" in somewhere, but the design I landed on just looked too cool to ruin with anything else :)

@@Nick930 will you make any direct comparison between warzone and sth coz in my opinion there are many creators who compares video games but not the way you do. I find your comparison more clear than others that's Y I was asking

No he made this video because he wanted to make the history of 007 games.....
@alysssabear4 жыл бұрын
Use your brain and realize that if he only made this video just to show off the thumbnail, then it wouldn't be an hour long.

I know nothing about making videos but I imagine just getting all the different clips of all the games ALONE must take so so much work.
@mcurran65054 жыл бұрын
If they ever do make another 007 game I want it to be like Everything or Nothing (which is one of my favourite PS2 games). Original story, 3rd person, stealth, hand to hand combat, less shooting, less gadgets (maybe), noticeable villains, Easter eggs & memorable gameplay.

The world is not enough for the n64 is probably my favourite one. It set out to do what no other game since then has done, follow in the footsteps of Goldeneye. It's better in every aspect yet it's quite obscure and alot of people don't seem to like it, not sure why :/
@liquidgeorge4 жыл бұрын
It's awful when compared to Goldeneye 007. Just compare the feel and the weight of shooting in Goldeneye 007, as well as the animations of the characters. TWINE feels so empty in comparison. It was just ok.
@constantintan33974 жыл бұрын
@@liquidgeorgeI agree in all honesty with your points. But TWINE wasn't awful or empty far from it, people complained about it being too scripted yet they act like Goldeneye's levels aren't confusing and make you have to play a single level 5 times trough trial and error. Twine literally did what goldeneye did and more, people just look at it trough rose tinted glasses and don't see the fact that it has falws. Alot of Goldeneye levels that were more open were just walking sims, they were a nice change of pace but not much more. Not saying TWINE is perfect, far from it it has some pretty crappy sound design, the gunplay is quite basic but it's still objectivley better than Goldeneye.

I like that you use emulators with upscaled resolution and fps. Make old games look like how we remember them back in the days.
@SolidPeaks4 жыл бұрын
I think if you made a hybrid of the new Hitmans sandbox stealth micro worlds mixed with Jedi: Fallen orders condensed exploration, there would be a great Bond game there MI6 would act as a frequently visited hub to talk to characters like M and Moneypenny to get missions and side objectives, gain intel on environments ect. and Q branch can double as an upgrade menu and a practice arena for gunplay and vehicle courses.

Goldeneye 007 was actually my first "modern" fps as I only had a wii for most of the 7th generation. It feels so special to me for that reason alone, but it also has a fantastic campaign and I played so many hours of multiplayer with my brothers

Someone pointed it out before me! GoldenEye then proceeds to get fired by MI6 and joins forces with Goldfinger, but not before getting his eye shot out by Dr. No and having it replaced with a cybernetic one made by Francisco Scaramanga. Typing it out makes me realize it's actually kind of a messy story lol

It is time to step away from Bond being a FPS/Multiplayer game. A open world shooter with a focus on story and progression. Something like a GTA open world area that you explore and progress a story, and based on your success and decision can impact the ending. Doesn't need to follow a film, but lots of additional books and materials to build off of.
