Hey folks, please check out this sneak preview trailer of Canada's Martial Arts history scheduled for release in approximately May, 2013 by Rising Sun Productions! Thank you Don Warrener sensei for posting it! I'm very proud to have played a small part of the history in Canada after 46 years of training and I really don't see any end to the continuous practice of a Martial Art I truly love! Thank you again sensei Warrener!

Thank you, this was interesting! Not surprising was that there is no mention of Hanshi Masayuki Hisataka and the introduction of Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo to Canada, at EXPO'67 in Montreal. Although, not being one of the more commercial schools of karate, this is to be expected, as I'm sure there are many schools/persons who were also not mentioned. Indeed, Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo was introduced at Expo '67 and continues to be taught at many schools across Canada; myself being a student dating back to July 1970, at the renowned Seidokwan Academy of Judo & Karatedo. FYI, Hanshi Masayuki Hisataka was the first Japanese Master Instructor to be accredited an Honorary Chief of the Mohawk Nation of The Kahn awake Territory, with the presentation of a full Native Head Dress! (I was at this ceremony, held at the Montreal Scottish Hall) In closing, I would very much like to have/purchase a copy of this video when it is available?

Looks good so far I think. I will be interested to see if people like Gary Legacy, Bill Hind, Ron Day and a few others make it into the video.

This is a great project which I will be following with great attention, but it is missing a huge and rich part of MA history: Natives and Europeans MA (the term was coined in 17th century Europe). I am researching this part of Canadian MA history and believe me it is very interesting.

I would love to purchase it, but $30 + s&h is too much. For what, an hour of video? The title is very misleading, too. It should have Remy Presas, General Choi Hong Hi. and many others. The dvd, I hate to say, is very one-sided. Too many greats of Korean arts, and others, were left out.
