Osgood was platted in 1854 when the railroad was extended to that point. The town was named for A. L. Osgood, a railroad official.
In 1999, the community received a $23 million bequest from the Gilmore and Golda Reynolds Foundation, which was established by two lifelong Osgood residents to assist the town government as well as local non-profit organizations.

Lived in Osgood until 2nd grade. Used to go into the Freeman store and buy candy. After we moved away to Jennings Co. my mother continued working at the U.S. Shoe factory. She worked there for 13 years. I have lots of special childhood memories of Osgood. I didn't catch the last name of the gentleman ( Bill ) you interviewed. Great interview btw. Very interesting !

@Adolf Hitler I remember them. We lived just a couple blocks away from them in a Rental house that Mr. Neal owned. The Damm Theater is one of my favorite topics when telling ppl about living in Osgood as I could say the word Damm ( when referencing the Theater ) in front of my mom and not get in trouble for cussing. I lived next door to the the Grangers and the Hardyd on the other side. I used to spend a lot of time hanging out at Mr. & Mrs. Bultmans house when my mom was at work. Boots Bultman was pretty cool guy.

I think that was Bill Kelso. I spent a lot of time in Osgood with my grandparents Jack and Ethel Carver. My mother Ann Breeden also worked at the shoe factory.

Is the rail line through Osgood still active? If so, for which railroad? Thanks. ps: These are interesting videos. Particularly for some from Covington, KY who now lives near Philly.

+mike klaene : I believe that the line is still active but I have no idea which rail lines uses it now. By the way....we'll be shooting videos in Philly in a few years!

History in Your Own Backyard Thanks for the reply. Actually I live in Downingtown which is an old mill town on the Brandywine Creek. It's main claim to fame is the the HS, Diner and police station from "The Blob" are here. It is also on the 'Main Line' of the Pennsy RR.

I used to live in Osgood and yes it is still active, trains still go across High bridge. I do not know which rail lines use it though!
