I like the video too, but unfortunately there are some errors in the video. First! When Poland became a kingdom around 1000 with the first Polish king Bolesław I the Brave or the Great, the Polish king's dominion was much larger than shown in the video. Because Bolesław the Great consolidated the Polish lands and conquered territories outside of modern borders of Poland such as Slovakia, Moravia, Red Ruthenia, German Meissen and Lusatia as well as Bohemia. Incidentally, Bolesław the Great's merits were not only the conquering of territories, but also various other positive aspects for Poland, such as Poland’s first currency. Also, another mistake is that Lithuania is all the time shown as an independent state separate from Poland. That is historically incorrect. In fact, Lithuanian independence ended with the treaty of Krewo in 1385 and Lithuanian became part of the newly formed Polish Empire. So Lithuania is not really shown as part of the Polish Empire since the 1385 treaty of Krewo, as also other territories. Because the entire red marked areas should be overwritten with Polska for Poland. The video gives the impression that these areas do not belong to the Kingdom of Poland, i.e. to the Polish Empire, but as if they were 2 states. But this does not correspond to historical reality. Because with the personal union of Poland with Lithuania in 1385, Poland became an empire and Lithuania, like other territories, was part of the Polish Empire. Poles completely dominated this empire and it was a Polish kingdom. The treaty of Krewo for personal union of Poland with Lithuania in 1385 was the first step in Poland's takeover of Lithuania. This union was declared indissoluble. This personal union meant that the Polish king should also be the ruler of Lithuania. In fact, the union treaty also contained the provision of the attaching of Lithuanian and Ruthenian lands to the Polish Crown. However, the various other treaties which followed this treaty actually meant the takeover and Polonization of Lithuania too. Thus the Union of Krewo in 1385 signified the beginnings of the strengthened Polonization of Lithuania. Strengthened Polonization because the Polonization actually started before the Union of Krewo, because Lithuania was Christianized from Poland. Priests, especially from Poland, Christianized Lithuania and priests had great influence at that time, so there was already a Polish Influence in Lithuania before the Union of Krewo. So the Polonization of Lithuania started with the Christianization and was finally completed with the Union of Lublin in 1569. Polish dominance about the Lithuanians illustrates also that the Polish king automatically became the grand duke of Lithuania. That was by far not the only additional title of the Polish kings. For example, the Polish King Sigismund III Vasa had in addition to the Polish royal title, Grand Duke of Lithuania and Grand Duke of Finland, Prince of Rus, Prussia, Mazovia, Volhynia, Podolia, Podlaskie, Severia, Czernihów, Samogitia, Livonia, also Hereditary King of Sweden. Rus stands for Russia because the Poles ruled large areas of Russia at the time, and even Moscow was briefly occupied by Polish troops. Samogitia stands for the Baltic States, which the Polish king largely ruled. Hereditary king of Sweden and Grand Duke of Finland because the Polish king was also the king of Sweden for a short time. In the end, the title Grand Duke of Lithuania was just one of many Polish king's titles. The title was particularly important only at the beginning of the Polish rule over Lithuania, when the Lithuanian nobility was not yet Polonized. At that time the Poles still had to pretend the Lithuanian nobility that this was not a takeover. A significant resolution was that in total 47 selected Lithuanian nobles were adopted by Polish nobles heraldic families and granted Polish coats of arm. This symbolic gesture signified their desire to adopt Polish customs and integrate into Polish society. This was part of Poland's significantly increased Polonization of Lithuania. So the Polonization of Lithuania started with the Christianization and was finally completed with the Union of Lublin in 1569 . It is also wrong to portray the so-called Holy Roman Empire west of Poland as a unified state. I'll explain why this is wrong in the next comment.

By the way, he English term Holy Roman Empire is based on an incorrect translation and is actually wrong. The German term "Heiliges Römisches Reich" was incorrectly translated into English as "Holy Roman Empire" and since then this wrong translation has been used incorrectly again and again. "Imperium" is empire in German not "Reich"! The term "Reich" is correctly explained in this German wikipedia link on the subject Reich (Territorium)! Quote from this German Wikipeia link translated: "Reich denotes the territory of a ruler, a state or, more generally, a politically organized community" So Reich is the same as realm. In German every kingdom can be called a "Reich" even if it is not an empire at all. The German word "Königreich" for kingdom actually contains the word Reich! König-Reich. Realm of Kings! So the correct translation is "Holy Romen Realm" and not "Holy Roman Empire"! Despite it still, ignorant fools use the wrong term Holy Roman Empire and not the correct term Holy Roman Realm. An alternative would be to use the German proper name in English. So Holy Roman Reich! This is also done in other contexts. As for example with the term the "Third Reich". In the meantime, people also speak of the "Fourth Reich" when one wants to polemically criticize Germany's attempts to dominate in Europe. I have already read texts where the term "Reich Progrom Night" was used. In the wiki link to the "Reichswehr" there is talk of "Reich Defense" as a translation. The same also applies to the wiki link to the "Reichsmarine" there is also the talk of "Reich Navy" as a translation. There are certainly other examples that show that the term "Reich" is used as a German proper name in English. So it would actually make sense to do this principally in order to avoid this translation error of wrong Holy Roman Empire! So it would be correct Holy Roman Reich or Holy Roman Realm! One could clearly see what unity there was in this alleged empire of the Holy Roman Realm (short HRR) when Vienna was besieged by the Ottomans. Only Bohemian, Bavaria, Franconia, Saxony, Lorraine and Swabia sent troops to reinforce the Habsburg Kaiser (emperor). Besides, these German princes only sent a few troops. The many other German princes were probably not interested in this plight of the so-called Kaiser. The so-called Kaiser Leopold could not order the other princes to send troops to save his capital, for his capital was not recognized as the capital of the other German small states. Leopold's will was meaningless to German princes! There was not enough help from the other German small states, so Leopold had to ask Poland for support with troops. The behavior of the German princes of the various German small states was no surprise, because the Holy Roman Realm itself was only a fiction after Otto I died. Because as an empire it only really existed during the 11 years of Otto I's reign. He was the only one who lived up to the title of Emperor because he was the undisputed ruler. After his death the empire fell apart. All alleged Kaisers after Otto I were disputed and in danger of being overthrown. All had to wage wars against insurgents. In fact, there were constant wars against German princes who did not recognize the Kaisers. More often there were 2 alleged Kaisers who then fought each other. This then led to the fact that there was actually a 1000-year civil war among the Germans. After the death of Otto I, there was no more unity among the Germans. A patchwork of territories emerged. Consisting of hundreds of smaller sub-units of principalities, bailiwicks, margraviates, lordships, free cities, baronies, duchies and even simple counties and bishoprics and other territories. This shows that the HRR has fallen apart into a complete mess of different domains. An empire must be a state and that was not the HRR. The HRR was a complex of territories without central authority! There was no common currency too. Thus the HRR was no state. Therefore the name empire is absurd, because the HRR was not an empire! The Kaiser title was only status without real political meaning! So the Holy Roman Realm was over the centuries without central authority! Paradoxically, the Kingdom of Germany also existed parallel to the Holy Roman Realm. What was also absurd was that the kings of this alleged empire called themselves Roman kings in Latin rex Romanorum, although at times in the 11th century they called themselves rex Francorum. To add to the absurdity, the Italians called this king rex Teutonicorum. All of these titles actually referred to a fictional kingdom that actually did not exist like the Holy Roman Realm as a united state. In fact, the small HRR states were actually permanently at war with each other, so that a unified of HRR could not arise! 1000 years they killed each other. One of the highlights was the Thirty Years' War. But they also fought each other before and after Thirty Years' War. Like in the Battle of Sievershausen 1553 when German Electorate of Saxony and Principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel fought against German Margraviate of Brandenburg-Kulmbach. By the way, this were really small German states! But German small states fought also alone against non German enemies. For Example in the Battle of Herbsthause when 1645 France fought against German Bavaria! Only Bavaria against France. That was just Bavaria without the support of the alleged empire against the French. ALONE! Or the German small states fought with non German allies from outside against the other German small states like in the Battle of Blenheim in 1704 when German small states Prussia, Hesse-Cassel and Hesse-Homburg allied with England and the Dutch Republic fought against the German small states Bavarians allied with France. At most, one could call the HRR a military alliance. But even that is actually wrong, because within a military alliance the allies do not fight each other all the time! Because in this military alliance all HRR states were never united. The various German small states of HRR also founded alliances, although at least in theory the HRR still existed. For example the Rheinische Allianz or the Welfenallianz or the Hildesheimer Allianz or the Kurrheinian alliance. It is interesting that these alliances could also include non-members of the HRE. For example was Sweden member of the Rheinische Allianz and France too! This shows the confusion in the HRE and the absurdity of the HRR! A completely ridiculous and stupid nation that was in a civil war for 1000 years and only managed to found a united German state in 1871. It was only in 1871 that the first permanent unified German state emerged. That is why the Germans are also known as the late nation. Because the first unified German state was only founded in 1871! A completely ridiculous and stupid nation that was in a civil war for 1000 years and only managed to found a united German state in 1871. It was only in 1871 that the first permanent unified German state emerged. That is why the Germans are also known as the late nation. Because the first unified German state was only founded in 1871! But one has to say unfortunately the Germans succeeded in founding this state! It would have been better for the European nations if they had continued this civil war and failed to found this damn state. Because without this unified German state, neither World War I nor World War II would have happened. This united nation would not have had the opportunity to commit various genocides. If unified Germany had not existed, then there would not have been also almost 50 years of communist oppression for half of the European nations. The 2nd World War also started through united Germany and as a result of the 2nd World War, the communists could occupy half of Europe and force the nations there to embrace communism. So without this United German State: NO world wars, NO genocides, NO immeasurable destruction and NO strong communism. Without this united German state, all these catastrophes and crimes would not have happened. There were also enough possibilities to prevent this united German state, but unfortunately the European nations did not do that, because nobody could have guessed what kind of monster arose.

So 3 times is one time too many rise and fall of Poland. Because there was only 2 times fall of Poland. 1795 und 1939!

Yes, I like the music too! I also like the video, but unfortunately there are some errors in the video. So the Polonization of Lithuania started with the Christianization and was finally completed with the Union of Lublin in 1569 . It is also wrong to portray the so-called Holy Roman Empire west of Poland as a unified state. I'll explain why this is wrong in the next comment.

By the way, the English term Holy Roman Empire is based on an incorrect translation and is actually wrong. That's actually not entirely true. Because from 1940 the French were allied with the Germans, who were the enemies of Poland. So in fact the enemies of Poland! The French also fought in North Africa against the de facto American allies of the Poles. The French also bombed British Gibralta. At that time there were also Polish troops there. So the French bombed the Poles as well. I'm adding this comment because outrageous lies are being spread under my comment. "Your comment consists of outrageous claims that contradict historical truth. Actually lying. Quotes of wiki: "The General Government, also referred by Germans as the General Governorate for the Occupied Polish Region, was a German zone of occupation..." "Vichy France (10 July 1940 - 9 August 1944), officially the French State (État français), was the authoritarian French state headed by Marshal Philippe Pétain during World War II." So Poland was occupied by the Germans and no Polish state collaborated with the Germans.Vichy France, on the other hand, was not occupied by the Germans and was voluntarily an ally of the Germans. This French state voluntarily collaborated with the Germans. It wasn't a short time either, because it wasn't just 1940. The French army fought against the Americans. The French Air Force bombed the British. The Polish soldiers, on the other hand, always fought against the Germans. These are historical facts. So your comparison of occupied Poland and France voluntarily collaborating with the Germans is an outrageous lie. One must not forget that Poland was also betrayed by this ally beforehand. The British and French declaration of war 1939 against Germany served only for saving face. The British and the French did not intend to keep to the contractual commitment and to attack massively in the west. They wanted to sacrifice Poland for peace with the Germans! They preferred to betray Poland instead of fighting. This was the continuation of British and French appeasement stupid politics of the 30s! The inaction of the French and British was the message to Germany: Be satisfied with Poland. Do not attack us behind the Maginot Line and in the British Isles. We do not attack Germany either! This betrayal of Poland in 1939 was not only dishonest but it was also a military stupidity of truly monumental dimensions. The opportunity to fight a brief, localized war against Germany was therefore lost in September 1939. In hindsight, also lost were the opportunities to save millions of lives and to have prevented the creation of conditions that led to the Cold War. As General Ironside the Chief of the British General Staff stated in 1945, after much of Europe was in ruins and 50 million have died, "Militarily we should have gone all out against the German the minute Germans invaded Poland. ... We did not ... And so we missed the strategical advantage of the Germans being engaged in the East. We thought completely defensively and of ourselves. After the war German military commander Alfred Jodl said that "if we did not collapse already in the year 1939 that was due only to the fact that during the Polish campaign, the approximately 110 French and British divisions in the West were held completely inactive against the 23 German divisions." German General Siegfried Westphal stated that if the French had attacked in full force in September 1939 the German army "could only have held out for one or two weeks." Franz Halder Chief of the German General Staff of the Army documents this fact in his war diary. "The Wehrmacht had been on the verge of a military logistical catastrophe in the Polish campaign. The happy ending after a few weeks saved her from having to stop the fight because of insufficient ammunition." For all that reasons the Germans had lost the war because Germans were not prepared for a two-fronts war! The French and British would only have had to attack massively in the West as agreed and the war would have ended quickly with a victory for Poland, France and the British! But instead of massively attacking as was agreed, they betrayed Poland and holed up cowardly in the bunkers. Instead of attacking, they did the cowardly so-called Phoney War. This betrayal of Poland and the cooperation as an ally of the Germans were disgraceful and dishonest!"

Nice video, but have some mistakes: 0:47 - Silesia and Kraków was assosiated with Bohemia at the tiem time and Poland conquered it after conqest of Pomerania and after adoption of Christianity. (Pomerania 960-963, baptism - 966, eastern Lesser Poland and Cherven cities 970s., lost of Cherven cities 981, conquest of Silesia and Kraków 990) Next events are messed up too - it should be in following order - (independent church - 1000, conquest of Lusatia 1002, conqest of Bohemia, Morawia and Slovakia 1003, lost of Bohemia - 1004, war with kievan Rus capture of Kiev and reconqest of Cherven cities - 1018, becoming a kingdom - 1025, lost of Lusatia, Moravia, Slovakia, cherven cities and a status of kingdom - 1031 Then Poland was divided in 1032 and reuinted in 1033 to fall into anarchy and interregnum and the facto dissolve in 1034, Masovia and Pomerania gained independence, Bohemians conquered Silesia and pagan upraised. In 1039 duke returns to Poland and move capital to Kraków, which wasn't destroyed by Bohemians, then he reconquers Masovia and Pomerania and at the end Silesia. That were very important events to early polish histroy, sad that you didn't inculde them. 2:02 - actually Zbigniew and Bolesław was sons of Władysław and Zbigniew didn't conqer Władysław lands but inherit it after Władysław death in 1102, then Bolesław indeed conqered his Brothers lands and Pomerania. Another very important event wasn't include - the fragmentation of Poland (1138), Poland become diveded beetwen sons of Bolesław and established seniorate and principate - the oldest member of dynasty was going to inherit capital city and suzeranity over rest of the family members. And then pomerania wasn't conqered by Germany, duke of Pomerania simply acknowledge german suzerainity. Somwhere about times when Poland invited Teutonic Knighs fragmentation intense - after assasination of princeps in 1227 there was a civil war to decide who will be his succesor, but eventually every duke became the facto independent. 2:47 - Silesia wasn't conquered by Germany. As Poland was fragmentated in Silesia there was about 20 independend dukes at the time. From 1327 to 1329 most of Silesian dukes acknowledged suzerainity of Bohemian king, that also claimed to be polish king (complicated story, I'm not going into it), and the last independent silesian duchy - duchy of Świdnica was intherited by Bohemians in 1370s. In 1320 Poland became finaly united and became a kingdom again, not shown here probably because all fragmentation was skipped 3:21 - Samogitia wan't conqered by Teutons, lithuanian duke Vytutas grant it to them to buy their passivity when he will be fightng with tatars (at the time Lithuania conqered steppes, shown in video later) 4:01 - Inflants wasn't part of Lithuania - it was both Lithuanian and Poland lands 4:15 Copernicus and Heliocentrism was over 100 years before Union of Lublin 4:22 - Sweden should be painted into Polish color, as our king became king of Sweden and rule from Warsaw, hardly ever visiting Sweden, and all Protestant/catholic discussion should be placed in Sweden, as they overthrowe Sigismunt for beeing catholic 6:44 - wtf are those northern borders 6:58 - November uprising was in 1831, then Cracovian upraising in 1846 - then Kraków was annexed by Austria You missed second polish upraising - January upraising in 1863, unsuccesfull too In times of polish-soviet war Czechoslovakia annexed Cieszyn, and in 1938, when this country was parititioned Poland take Zaolzie 8:27 - Memel was annexed by Germany before war even started Thats all what I noticed

Almost everything you said was correct and besides a few moments in the early middle ages, everything i didnt include was because for someone who was just intrested in polish history would find this video very confusing so i simplified a lot of stuff. Also, while yes, the king of Poland became king of sweden and he ruled from Warsaw, he was swedish, and i didnt have enought space on the map to show the catholic/protestant fights in sweden. I know heliocentrism was inventes before the commonwelth but it was at this time that it started being fully accepted and i wanted to make it clear for everyone that at this time Poland was in its golden age. While the golden age started a few years before, it would have been weird to have a war in the middle of it. But almost everything you said is correct :) Memel and the period around the year 1000 are errors though, my bad

@@baffledwaffle6319 To be fair this is one of the most entertaining countryball video about polish history I watched so I don't mind about all those mistakes. I still don't agree with coloring Poland instead of Sweden - Jagiełło also were not polish (he was lithuanian), but we assume that Lithuania was in union under Poland, not opposite, and Sigismunt wasn't even full blod swedish, as his father was swedish and his mother was polish - thanks to that family conections he was elected as king of Poland and many seen in polish branch of Vasa dynasty continuation to Jagiellonians. And at the end - it was Sweden who broke out from union, not Poland. Anyway I see your point of view for coloring map the way you did it.

Around 7:50 You missed Czechoslovakia claiming Zaolzie in 1919 - It happened when reds were pushing into Poland. It was reclaimed by Poland later during Nazi Germany takeover of Czech and subjugation of Slovakia. It is often overlooked fact in history to paint Poland as ally to nazi germany later in 1938.
