R.E Olds was from Geneva, Ohio where I live. His childhood house was turned into a Napa store. There is a giant mural dedicated to him 100 yards away from his house on the Geneva community Center honoring him.

I was a sign painter in 1975. I signed what, I was told was, the last Diamond Rio Raider made. It was a green conventional purchased in St Louis, Mo

Three generations of my family worked at the Diamond Reo factory in Lansing, Great grandpa, grandpa, and dad. Great grandfather built his house around 1910 right across Christancy St from the factory. Factory burnt down in 1977.

Good REO history. My dad was a big lover of REO trucks. He purchased many new and used REOs back in the 1930-50s. The last one, a 1951 F22RT, is in my possession now. I guess the Big 3 really didn’t like the competition back then and did what they could to push others out. Well, that’s my take on it. Many nice looking trucks made the assembly line that had the REO/Diamond REO badging on them. Howard Trucking has had a few REO trucks. Thanks for the history lesson. Good job. 🥰🤩🇺🇸

You answered a question I've had for 60+ years. When about 12 (1960) I was building plastic military models. A kit from Monogram was a HD truck called the "Eager Beaver". Whether the name was specific or generic, I don't know. Thanks. Narragansett Bay

Worked for a Mov, & Stor. Co. in the 70'sAll they had were REO & Diamond Reo. Thr dealer was in our town ^ they were loyal custmers as were many other companies in the area. We were still using REO gold comets well into the 70;s when I worked there. I had a new 76 tractor.at the time , Very nice truck

I had a REO. US6. Not very many people know about the REO US6. They built just 22,204 and were virtually identical to the Studebaker US6. Production of the REO US6 started in the fall of 1944 and probably stopped in June of 1945. I could only find 3 left in the US. After WW2, Australia got approximately 90 REO US6 trucks in a shipment of 1500 of US6s (1410 Studebaker US6s). So Australia now has the highest concentration of REO US6s in the world. ( possibly 50 extant). The lend-lease countries got most of the 22,204 total production. Also, after WW2, Studebaker US6s and remaining REOs were auctioned to the public in the US. Most of these vehicles were sold unassembled in a "twin unit" pack ------ 2 US6s in a huge wooden crate. Some farmers bought fleets of them to use as grain haulers in the Western US. Differences between a REO US6 and a Studebaker US6 consisted of the horn button and the serial number plate(s). REO also used a plain Hercules JXD or JXLD not having the logo and turning wheel on the exhaust manifold as did the Studebaker US6. Beautiful trucks!! Thank you very much for this video!!!

My grand father drove WW2 REO 6x4 truck which was purchased from ex U.S. Army auction or some kind of shop, I believe it was in Belgium or France. It was built like tow truck after it came in Finland in late 1940’s . He often tells us stories about that REO etc. I really don’t remember that truck type number and my grandfather passed away 1976 so there’s no one to ask it. I have one poor quality picture of it somewhere.

My next door neighbor and I found a Reo lawnmower in the town dump when we were in 6th grade. We brought it home, cleaned it up, and spent time to get it running. My next door neighbor sold it to a relative for a couple bucks. Haven't thought about that Reo lawnmower since. It's the only one I ever saw.

Brings back fond memories. I was just a young man and only 5 or 6 years old. I managed to run over the outhouse and chicken coop. Not a good day for me. My dad was ok but my grandfather was a different story. May they rest in peace.

Can you made video of Desoto mid and heavy duty trucks please? Those were quite popular trucks here in Finland and I think Desoto were common trucks in Europe and southern America as well. Desoto was Chryslers export truck brand so maybe in USA it’s not so well known brand.

No mention of Francis Cappaert's ownership of the Diamond Reo Company? Many feel it was his incompetence that broke the company, others say he made money running it into the ground and some theories say he was paid to ruin it.
