As in all things, that statement is relative. Sony products aren't perfect an still operating , may have been repaired multiple times. The Trinitron table top T V I use to own a capacitor tin the vertical sweep circuit fialed 3 times. The first two repairs where done following the recommended hack, Mounting the capacitor in the back of the circuit board, where it would be subject to less heat. After the third apparent failure, I opted to get a newer TV, with features the old Sony didn't have.
@mfbfreak5 жыл бұрын
In my experience, Sony equipment has to be repaired as much as any other brand. At least after several decades. However, Sony has extremely good service documentation. Their service manuals are very comprehensive, and on the circuit boards test points etc are very well indicated. This makes repairs easier than with brands that (for instance) only have a circuit diagram available.

I recently repaired a Sony ICF-5080 radio made in about 1973 (almost 50 years ago). The only required servicing was that the volume control needed contact cleaner. I did not even have to replace electrolytic capacitors (which would not normally be expected to last 50 years). Sheer quality....I use the radio every day....precision equipment.

Sony is the best. When the Trinitron TV first came out I compared the picture quality to others side by side and there was no doubt it had the brightest and sharpest picture I had ever seen. When the Betamax tape player/recorder came out I couldn't believe how sharp the picture was and that I could watch and pause a movie at home. Then came the Sony CD player. The first time I put on those headphones and listened to the demo CD I could swear I was in a concert hall. Recently I purchased the Sony WH-1000XM4 noise cancelling headphones. They block out all external sound except for what I am listening to. There are cheaper versions of everything but if you want quality Sony is worth the price.

As a matter of fact I didn't even know so know that this is the 75th anniversary of Sony the founding of it. And being over there in Tokyo Japan where their head offices now I see why. As a matter of fact I've got a radio here in the house a little transistor radio itself it's an amfm but basically it's a Sony and it works to perfection. Although I haven't used it very much but I still you don't think of it that way. But thanks for the narrator that told me all this I'm glad that that's all done. Not even a scratch on the stickers that are 30 years old! It had spent it's last 26 years in a bag basically rotting away, and the only "damage" it got was being unable to play the tapes that were left with it, having refreshing errors at the top. I also have one, one from 2008 and everything is still perfect. Both don't even have charge issues! Who said electronics degrade in a couple years?
