Batman is the most popular superhero but superman is the most iconic. People knock superman for being a boy scout but I see nothing wrong with having good morals and being heroic. I think he's a good role model for children and he's on of my favs.

+The Hive That's the thing though. Batman doesn't necessarily have good morals. He has a mission which doubles as a way to cope with his own tragedies. As for knowing whether he does the right thing, in Batman's mind, he could justify all of his actions- he has to. The good morals aspects are not what we relate to, it's the background, the story. He's an immigrant. Someone who society would say doesn't belong. Like you said, you don't know that what you do is right. So does Superman, in fact he has the biggest burden of all with his powers.

People don't understand Superman. As Jack Larson once said, "Superman works best when he appeals to the 12 year old boy in us." Comic books today overthink everything and try to justify realism in an unrealistic world. Take me back to time when the "S" on his chest stood for Superman, and was not a Kryptonian symbol. The Golden Age Superman was not a Boy Scout, as he is often called in derision. He was a hero, somethng for us to want to be because we couldn't be him. Just like kids wishing they could shout "SHAZAM!" and turn into Captain Marvel. Today's Superman is portrayed as a beacon of hope, but there's something missing: a sense of fun.

"Batman is more relatable" Batman is a billionaire that gained his money by birthright and not hard work (not that there's anything wrong with that), has dead parents that made him travel the world training his mind and body into a crime fighting machine. A body and mind that he constatly trains with tremendous discipline and every night exploits his body and mind, damaging himself in the process, being exposed to all sorts of physical pains and mental breakdowns. He refuses to date, his only company are orphan boys and a butler. If you say Batman is relatable you better have a strong will to back that up, cause ain't no normal human act like that.

Lois slaps the mobster, not Clark! That was the point. Clark was acting like a milquetoast so she had to defend herself. The mobster later kidnaps Lois because she slapped him. Clark saves Lois as Superman because he caused the entire situation.

Superman is my favorite character, the Golden Age is my favorite period... and I still learned a lot from this! Fun fact: the first live portrayal of Superman was at the NY World’s Fair for Superman Day on July 3, 1940. The actor Ray Middleton is often credited to being the man who wore the suit, but that’s not known.

Superman was and is one of the most popular superhero's of them all since 1938 and still going strong and will continue to do so as long as there's "Truth" and "Justice" and the "American" way of which the last one is no longer said because like everything else in the new millennial Superman has become politically correct reflecting his current time. And will continue to do so as long as DC keeps making those super bucks.

Golden age Superman sounds a lot like what they were trying to do in New 52 as a social justice vigilante

The reason Luthor became bald was because one the writers, Leo Nowak, mistakened Luthor for one of his bald henchmen in superman #4. They then kept him bald in superman #10.

I didn't realize that Superman's origin story in "Red Son" was a call back to Superman's earlier origin story as a "time travel baby" until now. That's neat.

Pronounced "Mix-Yez-Pitel-Ick", however it was originally spelled with the "P" and the "T" reversed (Myxztplk) so it would have been "Mix-Yex-Tipel-Ick" at the time.Common to miss that, but not as annoying as everyone mispronouncing "LUTHOR" like "LUTHER".Just one of my stupid, nerdy pet peeves.
