This is all lies. I am a black African Muslim and in Islam it is forbidden to take slaves, unless if taken from captives of war. Muslims are not allowed to just walk into countries and take slaves. In Islam, Muslims are encouraged to free slaves. If they can't free them, then they have to treat them with fairness. I.e, this meant that the master had to feed the slaves from the food which they ate, and cloth them with the clothes they wore. The person narrating this video claims that the Muslim Berbers from North Africa enslaved black people, however this doesn't makes sense seeing as the Berbers themselves are of black ancestry. It is well known that the Muslims from North Africa who invaded Spain in the 700s were described as Moors. The word "Moor" derived from the Greek word mauros (plural mauroi), and means"black" or "very dark," which in Latin became Mauro (plural Mauri). So how can the black Moors manage to conquer Spain and be enslaved by the Arabs at the same time. It doesn't make sense. There are no history books which describe any mass enslavery of black Africans in North Africa, because it did not happen. The guy who is narrating this video obviously has an anti Islamic agenda, and trying to stop black people from being attracted to Islam. In Islam, black people are honoured, the prophet Muhammad described himself as the son of a black women. Unlike Christianity, Muslims acknowledge that many of the prophet such as Moses and Adam were black.

@Realmatic Schisms Who is white? The prophet Muhammed (pbuh) was not white in complexion. He may have even been closer to brown than white. Muslims acknowledge that the prophet Muhammad was not white. Not that it matters having a white prophet, I am just stating facts. However, the issue I have is when Christians depict their prophet's such as Moses and Jesus as white Europeans, when they were far from it.
@mdidris44145 жыл бұрын
@Realmatic Schisms this is what happens when you give ignorant people a platform to speak. They cause destruction and misery. All you are doing is taking hadith and putting them in the wrong context. When referring to black and white. It doesn't mean the black and white with regards to what we understand black and white to be genetically. But rather, on the day of judgement the ones who will go to hell, their faces will turn black and the ones who will go to heaven, their faces will turn white. The white and black colour, when it does change, will be different to how we would define those colours by today's EUROPEAN standards. In fact, one hadith describes the black as a horrible dark blue looking colour. Allah will not discriminate with regards to the ethnicity of the people whose faces will either turn black or white (So this could be white people whose faces turn black and black people whose faces turn white). Allah knows the future, so when he created the souls he already knew which of them will enter the fire and which of them will enter heaven. Thus, the souls who Allah knew, their faces will turn black on the day of judgement, he tapped them on the left shoulder and the white faces on the day of judgement, he tapped them on the right shoulder. However, Allah allowed each created soul to live out their lives on the earth, even though he knows whether they will end up in the fire or heaven, because if he put the souls into hell immediately after they were created, they would complain that if they were given a chance to live, they would have been good. So he allows those souls who are destined for evil to live out their lives so that they won't have no argument against Allah when they are being dragged into the hellfire on the day of judgement. I have attached a link below which gives an explanation of the hadith which you posted in your message. islam.stackexchange.com/questions/37379/is-this-hadith-authentic-about-adam-striking-offspring-from-his-shoulders

During the period of our study, from the third to the seventeenth centuries, not one conquest was ever launched by way of the Nile: That of the Sudan (modern country), accompanied with the help of England, came only in the nineteenth century. Nor was there ever an Arab conquest of Mozambique or any other East African country.” See Cheik Anta Diop, Pre-colonial Black Africa, page 101 2) “The Arab conquests (in black Africa) dear to sociologists are necessary to their theories but did not exist in reality. To this day no reliable historical documents substantiate such theories.” The so called "arab slave trade" is just a fabrication of modern internet revisionists, who possibly felt guilty for the crimes of their own christian empires in africa. so they invented this imaginary story in order to relativise their own crimes. there are no primary sources and literally no contemporary narrations about any so-called "arab slave trade" in africa. and if somebody denies that, then he/she should tell which arab army has ever invaded africa south of the sahara? from which dynasty, state or empire was that army? and in which time did that supposed army invade africa? fact is that no one will be able to answer that, because there has never been an Arab/Muslims army in africa except for the northern coasts. therefore, it's clear that the modern myth of "arabs capturing and enslaving africans" is nothing but a fabricated and imaginary lie, spread to create anti-muslim sentiments and to relativise the european christian atrocities in africa.

Slavery has historically been widespread in Africa. Systems of servitude and slavery were common in parts of Africa in ancient times, as they were in much of the rest of the ancient world.[1] When the trans-Saharan slave trade, Indian Ocean slave trade and Atlantic slave trade (which started in the 16th century)[2] began, many of the pre-existing local African slave systems began supplying captives for slave markets outside Africa.[3][4] Slavery in contemporary Africa is still practised despite it being illegal. This is why islam was made to abolish slavery because it was already around before arab muslims started taking place in it but they took up slavery the same way africans did by means of war or servitude but a slave in arab lands had rights such as a master could get killed for beating a slave and slaves could marry and had right the same way africans would treat thier own kind of they enslaved another tribe so I dont think we can really say that arabs STARTED slavery first it was already going on in africa

It is the source and the glory of their wealth...the mother lulls the child to sleep with notes of triumph over an enemy reduced to slavery." -King Gezo of Dahomey

The Arab slave trade was the longest yet least discussed of the two major slave trades. It began in seventh century as Arabs and other Asians poured into northern and eastern Africa under the banner of Islam. The Arab trade of Blacks in Southeast Africa predates the European transatlantic slave trade by 700 years. Some scholars say the Arab slave trade continued in one form or another up until the 1960s, however, slavery in Mauritania was criminalized as recently as August 2007. One of the biggest differences between the Arab slave trade and European slaving was that the Arabs drew slaves from all racial groups. During the eighth and ninth centuries of the Fatimid Caliphate, most of the slaves were Europeans (called Saqaliba), captured along European coasts and during wars. Aside from those of African origins, people from a wide variety of regions were forced into Arab slavery, including Mediterranean people; Persians; people from the Caucasus mountain regions (such as Georgia, Armenia and Circassia) and parts of Central Asia and Scandinavia; English, Dutch and Irish; and Berbers from North Africa. Terrible Aspects of Slavery in the Arab World. The Arabs’ treatment of black Africans can aptly be termed an African Holocaust. Arabs killed more Africans in transit, especially when crossing the Sahara Desert, than Europeans and Americans, and over more centuries, both before and after the years of the Atlantic slave trade. Arab Muslims began extracting millions of black African slaves centuries before Christian nations did. Arab slave traders removed slaves from Africa for about 13 centuries, compared to three centuries of the Atlantic slave trade. African slaves transported by Arabs across the Sahara Desert died more often than slaves making the Middle Passage to the New World by ship. Slaves invariably died within five years if they worked in the Ottoman Empire’s Sahara salt mines. Black Africans did not enjoy immunity to many of the diseases found in the Arab world, which also resulted in high death rates. Slaveholders in the Muslim world often castrated black African male slaves to serve as harem guards. This is a prime reason there are not many communities of blacks living in the non-African Muslim world today, despite the millions of black African slaves sold into the Muslim world. Many African boys did not survive their castration surgery. As late as 1903, there were still 194 African eunuchs in service to the Ottoman ruling family.
Well it happened centuries ago so who really gives a damn?

Some of what you say is Not true, See I am from Tanzania, from one of the tribes that were enslaved by arabs. The Nyamwezi and Sukuma, Yao and Makua, that you are mentioning are our tribes here in Tanzania, these tribes did not sell fellow africans to arabs, what happened is that Arabs came into the interior, with better weapons, literally ambushed and hunted innocent people from their peaceful habitations, they hunted the Nyamwezi and Sukuma, which are the largest tribes in Tanzania, the men and women from these tribes were literally hunted as animals for slavery and headed towards the famous Tanzania port of Bagamoyo in the East of the country, there are several reasons 1) these tribes political structure was not operating as one single tribal system, although they spoke one language, the people were under many ununified chiefdoms. So, there was no one conglomerate group or single structure under one leader, chief, called Batemi, but rather, these were numeraous chiefdoms/Batemi 2) the Sukuma and Nyamwezi are a strong bread of people, they are known for being hard working. So, opportunitic arabs were looking for strong people who can carry heavy burdens and farm, the only people who were populous and strong were the Nyamwezi and Sukuma. So, arabs made these targets for their enslavement. So, the arabs did not bother to take africans from the coastal area, but rather they went into the interior of Tanzania to the shores of lake Victoria/Nyanza in Tanzania, becuase they were looking for a particular type of people who were strong but who were not armed. 3) the weapoans and art of war in these tribes were not yet advanced compared to their enemies, because again, we have always been a civilized people, freedom loving and other factors were playing part as well. Our people competed for work, mariages, culture and drums/dancing competions, even today that is happening. 4) Again, the kind of arabs that came to enslave our people, some were black like us, for instance arabs like the infamous Tippu Tip, was a black arab. So, they took advantage of that as well, i mean how do you immediately suspect a person who looks like you, especially when back then people were friendly in these regions, and these arabs came under a pretense of trade, and it so happens that you need to do trade in some exhotic goods they bring, but too late you realize they have diabolic purposes in mind. The black arabs from Oman went into fellow black africans among thesee tribes, hunted them, then sold them to 'white' arabs who had already established themselves in the coast in Zanzibar and abroad in Omani. The culture is till todate the same, we are a peace loving people. It was a betrayal. 5) the contrast however is that, some few chiefdoms among these tribes, like that of Isike, Mirambo, etc, were strong militarily, but were small in number, so, the arabs simply avoided them and sought the weakers ones politically, and traded goods, not humans, with the strong chiefs as a caveat. The level of political hegemony was still retail in nature, we did not politicise in wholesale then. It is also important to note that finally, our people stood, united, resisted, many died, terrorized through hanging, and strangling in public, but thank God we were able to kick these devils at last.

We are not forgetting the slavery carried out by the Europeans but normally all the focus is on the North Atlantic Slave Trade and people think that Islam is a friend to black people which is far from the whole picture. The Arab Slave Trade actually started much earlier than the North Atlantic Slave Trade and continued after the Europeans had ceased trading in human misery. The experts also estimate that the number of deaths in the Arab version was far worse than in the Atlantic version with up to 90% dying in capture or in transit not even making it to the markets. Even the estimated 10% death rate in the North Atlantic Slave Trade is deplorable.

Though it should be stated the focus on Africans wasn't inherently racial, it was due to proximity. European settlers attempted to enslave Natives first, but due to foreign disease brought with the colonists, many Natives lived very short lives. So in terms of minimum distance (cost effectiveness in play) it made sense to get slaves from the nearest source - the west coast of Africa. The establishment of "natural hierarchies" that rationalized the White dominance of Black slaves came later with the invention of "race" and scientific racism. Doesn't excuse the evil of it all, but just trying to clarify: slaves were taken because of their closeness to the Americas and the availability by being sold by African slavers; the racial dichotomy that haunts America still to this day came later.

@SakiMayaAzure4 жыл бұрын
@Leeber Gruber For starters, I went to a public school so I was immersed in Arab language and culture. It always came up in social studies and science. The teachers would always tell us how Arabs are better than everyone. It was something that was repeated everyday. in many of the textbooks they would always say that the Arabs has slaves and that they were always zunujor negroes in the Arabic text and at the time I did not have enough vocabulary to point this out. What was interesting though, is that there were many black Arabs in my school as well. They would say that they are originally from Africa. They would also say that the black people are indigenous to the Arabian penninsula as well. Looking back, it's interesting. Many of my other fellow students (who were black) would try to assimilate at school but as soon as they get home, they would wear traditional African clothing and hairstyles.

Let's be real here, the current slavery situation in Libya exists because of, yet again, Western meddling in foreign affairs. Prior to Gaddafi's death and the breakout of civil war, which was funded by NATO, the crisis we see today was non existent. Gaddafi was even about to start the motions for a pan-African currency backed by gold, rather than the US dollar. Of course, that was never going to be allowed by the Western globalists and look how that ended. Libya has been in chaos ever since. Blanket labelling everything down to Muslims is not the correct answer.

Actually there is another angle to this. So much of western civilization had pass through knowledge from Arabs. Arabs introduced Indian mathematics to the west and west started calling them Arabic numerals without any basis. Arabs were ahead in slavery not by design but by the evolution of Arab empire. Slaves along with the loot are property - that was the origin of ownership of fellow humans. Arabs while expanded also converted. Mohammed had many prophecies on occupation of lands from India to Africa & West, the conquest ethic at its finest. Post crusades it was the Arabs who introduced spices from India to the west which helped them preserve meats etc. That’s how the Catholic Spanish, Italians & Portuguese got the idea of discovering a shorter western route to India, ergo Columbus expedition. That was the zeitgeist of that time not these atrocious motives attributed to Columbus. While the Arabs Slave Traded for 700 plus years, Atlantic slave trade is 250 years old. It is also true slavery existed in China, India, Russia etc that subjugated millions - yes millions. The real reason Atlantic slave trade gets so much attention is because it was documented, a tradition of Europeans & largely of Victorian England. They kept tallies if you will, it’s part of that civilization that also taught tribes in Africa & India they should wear clothes. No one questioned Snoop Dog or Spike Lee when they were hanging out with celebrity Donald Trump. That’s how history works. It’s never black & white and there is lot more than what meets the eye

It’s very disappointing reading the comments. Instead of learning history people are constantly putting racial blame amongst each other. 90% of the people who were enslaved in the Atlantic were enslaved by west Africans then sold to the Spanish/Dutch and Portuguese. the Moore’s raped and enslaved hundreds of thousands of Europeans as well as Barca centuries before. The danish and Norwegians enslaved and raped thousands of Northern European not only in the west but look to the east. the reason why people are called slaves around east Europe was because they were slaves. Slavery took place at every point in history by every race and I doubt any of us in the modern first world has experienced slavery. The devices we are using to complain and shame are worth more then the unfortunate humans who were forced to serve. We should learn an be greatful for our fortune

Islam/Christianity are not indigenous African religions. They are not indigenous to the Africa people. Furthermore, the headquarters of these religions are outside of Africa. The adoption of these religions eventually lead to the extermination of African culture. Christain parents name their African children Jewish names instead of African names. My name .. is Salim .. case in point...I would much rather have an African name. A real African name that is. But my parents gave me that name because they thought that the name was African. No.. its of Islamic origin. We must go back to our old belief systems. Worship our own god/ gods. A jew will never adopt an African religion.. or name his child an African name .. same with an Arab... So Why the F are we naming our children their names? We must break the mental shackles bind us. All that is black in not bad. That's a lie that the W man told us. Matter fact .. One can argue that traditional African "religions" have a closer connection to god than these infidel religions. Isn't it ironic that African nations are split among religious lines?

North African and middle Eastern countries won't teach this history, they will sweep it under the rug. I have several Arab friends and even teachers and profs they know say "yea, but it wasn't as bad as what the Europeans did" and they talk about how Arabs helped for economic purposes (partial truth), while Europeans plunged our wealth (which is true as well). Nevertheless, they sweep it under the rug, and considering the already bad reputation Arabs and middle East have, they can't afford much more bad rep

Saying the Arab Slave trade was worse than the Atlantic slave trade is like saying assault is as bad as murder. They're both horrible but they dont compare. So two distinctions between the Atlantic slave trade and the Arab slave trade, first the Arab slave trade was not based on race but religion. Slaves came from everywhere - central Asia, southern Europe, north africa, sub-saharan africa - you name it there were slaves from there. Sharia law prohibited the enslavement of Muslims and encouraged masters to enter contractual agreements for their slave's emancipation. In fact many societies held emancipation as paying zakat or charity. a Second, the Arab slave trade ignored class distinctions, by which i mean a slave could be wealthier than a free man and hold a higher status. There are countless examples of slave dynasties consequently across the Islamic world - the mamalukes in Egypt, Habshi Kings in Pakistan, Delhi Sultanate, Yeniceris in the Ottoman empire. The list goes on. More to this point, many of the most prominent politicians, clerics and military leaders during this period were slaves. This is not to say that there weren't atrocities committed by Arab slave traders in Africa, but instead to say there was greater social mobility as a slave in the islamic world then in the western world. the point I am making is that slavery in the Islamic world was still subject to the rule of law and human rights. I have Omani friends who trace their roots back to the Swahili coast and are related to the Qaboos royal family for god sake. The Trans Atlantic slave trade was not, or at least not really. When the Spanish and the Portuguese started purchasing slaves in Angola and Guinea, it was to replace a depleted native american work force. A work force they abused and murdered in mass. Throughout this period both countries' monarch struggled to enforce home in the colonies. This in turn set a precedent, where colonists acted outside the rule of law on the treatment and acquisition of slaves, which led to slavery taking on a more racial lens and prevented slaves and even free men's social mobility. The Black race for example is not just people of African descent, no many native american tribes, Carib and Seminole tribes to provide two examples. the transatlantic slave trade gave rise to eugenics, Orientalism, racism and host of other prejudices based on genetics. Just a thought;.

Over 28 Million Africans have been enslaved in the Muslim world during the past 14 centuries While much has been written concerning the Transatlantic slave trade, surprisingly little attention has been given to the Islamic slave trade across the Sahara, the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. While the European involvement in the Transatlantic slave trade to the Americas lasted for just over three centuries, the Arab involvement in the slave trade has lasted fourteen centuries, and in some parts of the Muslim world is still continuing to this day. A comparison of the Muslim slave trade to the American slave trade reveals some interesting contrasts. While two out of every three slaves shipped across the Atlantic were men, the proportions were reversed in the Muslim slave trade. Two women for every man were enslaved by the Muslims. While the mortality rate for slaves being transported across the Atlantic was as high as 10%, the percentage of slaves dying in transit in the Transsahara and East African slave trade was between 80 and 90%! While almost all the slaves shipped across the Atlantic were for agricultural work, most of the slaves destined for the Muslim Middle East were for sexual exploitation as concubines, in harems, and for military service. While many children were born to slaves in the Americas, and millions of their descendants are citizens in Brazil and the USA to this day, very few descendants of the slaves that ended up in the Middle East survive. While most slaves who went to the Americas could marry and have families, most of the male slaves destined for the Middle East were castrated, and most of the children born to the women were killed at birth. It is estimated that possibly as many as 11 million Africans were transported across the Atlantic (95% of which went to South and Central America, mainly to Portuguese, Spanish and French possessions. Only 5% of the slaves went to the United States). A comparison of the Muslim slave trade to the American slave trade reveals some interesting contrasts. While Christian Reformers spearheaded the antislavery abolitionist movements in Europe and North America, and Great Britain mobilized her Navy, throughout most of the 19th Century, to intercept slave ships and set the captives free, there was no comparable opposition to slavery within the Muslim world. Even after Britain outlawed the slave trade in 1807 and Europe abolished the slave trade in 1815, Muslim slave traders enslaved a further 2 million Africans. This despite vigorous British Naval activity and military intervention to limit the Muslim slave trade. By some calculations the number of victims of the 14 centuries of Muslim slave trade could exceed 180 million. Nearly 100 years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in America, and 130 years after all slaves within the British Empire were set free by parliamentary decree, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, in 1962, and Mauritania in 1980, begrudgingly removed legalized slavery from their statute books. And this only after international pressure was brought to bear. Today numerous international organizations document that slavery still continues in some Muslim countries. Dr Marcus Garvey Jr.
