I got one of these cheap pallets from Hobby lobby. They seem to put some kinda coating over it to where acrylic paint washes right off of it. Will this prevent the stain from soaking in the wood?

If you saturate wood with enough oil it will prevent more oil being absorbed

@@ArtLifeWeekly Thanks for the reply. This pallet is brand new from Hobby lobby. I mixed red and black acrylic paint then added linseed oil. But it did not stain it all wiped off. Is this because I’m using acrylic paint? Thanks

@@ArtLifeWeekly Not really I’m trying to stain it a darker burnished color like in this video. But it all wipes off back to the same bright wood color. My cheap pallet looks identical to yours. The same size, shape and color before you stain it. But I’m in the US. I guessing they put some kinda coating on it and I need to sand it off. But it doesn’t feel like it has coating on it.

Wasn't the color achieved by wiping it with linseed oil. Mine got dark brown as I used it with lindseed oil.
