History of the Ashland County Jail

Ashland, Ohio's jail has a rich history defined by two public hangings in the 1800s- that of Charles Steingraver in 1851, and the infamous double hanging of George Horn and William Gribben in 1884.

When I was a little kid that jail always gave me the creeps when we drove by it. We always called it the castle.
