@Orion it IS true though, in her defense. The skill it took for one to hold a razor blade to one's neck and create something cosmetically pleasing... if he was well known, people would have come from long ways away to get his results. There are stories of generals in armies in occupied countries going to barbers in town, in the town that hates them for their military presence. Imagine sitting in that chair, surrounded by sharp strong objects and people that hate you, so vulnerable. But, you're a general. You're feared. Right? Anyway, just wanted to give Stephanie some creedence. Cheers!

When cleaning bandages they used blue cleaning agents. The red represented blood stains, they spin cause it’s simulating the washing container. It spun around inside a bottle filled with bandages & cleaning agents.
@bradleyweiss10894 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure where he got his info. I read, heard, saw that the ball on top was where you placed your hand while they let the blood. The blood ran down your arm and the pole. So really those electric poles are turning the wrong way. It should look like the spirals are going down not up.

What was the purpose of hanging the bloody bandages outside in the wind? Did they reuse them?
@joeholtz53955 жыл бұрын
Dale Kelly no. It was to advertise that you were open. And you were a barbershop. We barbers pulled teeth and used leeches. We also did blood letting which killed a LOT of people. It was thought that by draining your “”bad” blood you would get better. Have a good day my friend!

WRONG. The blue was added during World War I to make us barbers seem more American and make the pole look like the flag. I’ve got more years as a barber than anyone here. I’ve researched it all. This video was thrown together just to garner attention. I’ve owned a shop in San Diego and LA. I’ve had my current shop for 17 years. I’m not bragging but I wish these people wouldn’t pull their so called facts out of their asses. Everyone have a great day and be good to one another!
@eddiesoul48905 жыл бұрын
I don't believe that....The reason for the twisted turning pole is because way way back in the day (maybe like the'40's) The barbers used to give kids a candy lane after there hair cut so one barber put a large pepper mint pole next to his shop and that's how it all started...

@thegroovingpict43632 жыл бұрын
At no point did surgeons add blue. It was added for patriotic reasons as is the norm for the US. The barber pole has its origins in Europe not the US. All original barber poles are red and white 👍
@asmodeus99445 жыл бұрын
Truth be told the 1st barbers were the Moors...black men who were very highly skilled in the arts of handling shared weapons during battle...knives, swords, etc. The red stripe represents blood. The blue stripe represents the blood before contact with air. The white stripe represents the people from which the blood came. TELL THE TRUTH SIR!

It is until it hits the air. Like the air you breathe. Which is oxygenated, then it instantly turns red just like in your lungs. They’ve done operations in high nitrogen filled rooms and the blood stayed blue. It’s the weirdest thing you’ll ever see. Like blue blood bath.
