History of the IMC - Titanfall Lore | Advocate Network: Episode 1

Apologies for the pretty large delay on Episode 2. Truth be told, the Monarch's Reign update really killed Titanfall for me and i'm completely lacking in motivation to edit the next episode. We have all the footage and audio ready to go, and the intro is done, but I really can't tell you when the episode will be coming out. I'll probably put a small notice about this on the beginning of the episode, so sorry about that folks. -Z

It's definitely coming. I'm currently putting together a PC build with the intent to do the editing and whatnot myself should the series not be started again by around September. However, there is the possibility of one coming earlier, but I'd say September/ October time is the upper limit. Truth be told, we were definitely unprepared and should have probably made a few episodes before releasing the first one. - J

To summarise, the pace of content drops that Respawn can do (combined with their very small Titanfall 2 team, as the majority of the studio has moved onto Titanfall 3) means that that it takes a long time to make major balance changes. Things such as the G2A5, R-97, Devotion, Hemlok, Phase Shift and Tone all took months to fix, with some stuff such as the Phase Shift and Melee taking eight months to fix when it was clear they were pretty broken since launch. This, combined with the fact that the majority of new content has been remakes (Angel City, Colony, Relic, War Games, Rise), Live-Fire only, reskins of existing weapons (Wingman Elite is nice but the R-101C Carbine is just a reskin of the R-201 Assault Rifle) or otherwise not amazingly impressive, I think it's understandable. I know I would have a hard time writing a script for a Halo lore episode given that my interest in the series took a nosedive after Halo 5 came out. However, I've generally been happy with what we've had (though the fact that Glitch was amazing has left me wanting more new content than reskins), and I've not lost my interest. So if worst comes to worst, I'll be taking over the series in both writing and editing sometime in around September-October, depending on when I finish my PC build. In hindsight, we definitely should have made a couple more episodes before releasing. -J

I agree. I was super disappointed when Titanfall 2 didn't have much in the way of grunt dialogue or even audio logs or whatever in the Pilot helmets. I'm really hoping we'll get a novel at some point exploring the relationships of the Apex Predators or 6-4, I feel they were criminally under-utilised in Titanfall 2. And of course - not enough Spyglass. -J

Although I'm not really a full on Militia mercenary, as I usually do things under the 6-4 banner, the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation abandoned the Frontier colonists to do whatever they wanted to do, with no help or supplies for colonization. And then suddenly, out of the blue, they come back demanding supplies that they didn't bother giving. The IMC are assholes. The Militia has a right to stand for their freedom. After all, the IMC let them be free in the first place. They have no right to barge in and take it away. (If you typed a joke comment im sorry lol)

I personally don't like the HUD when gameplay was used, I prefer cinematic shots or pictures for lore videos. That's just my preference though, you guys did amazing work!

That's fair, it's not for everyone. I did try to find cinematic ways to film, however due to the limitations of playing on console and the unfortunate lack of visual content surrounding the lore, it becomes difficult to avoid HUD visible gameplay without the cinematics becoming overused. However if I do find a solution I will be sure to test it in future videos. Thank you for the feedback though, it will definitely help. -Z

Spacecraft engines need literally hundreds of gigawatts to terawatts (enough power for a large country) to operate. In any future with cheap space travel, energy should not be a problem. With cheap space travel, virtually infinite quantities of natural resources can be obtained for little cost. Titan (the largest of Saturn's moons, in Sol System), for instance, has vast lakes of natural gas and sand dunes made of coal. There are entire many-kilometer-wide asteroids made of trillions of tonnes of frozen tarry stuff, which can be processed into hydrocarbons. The most valuable thing on the frontier is probably its taxable economy., i.e. its people Whether or not robots can do better...
