Don't trust these videos. Sponsored by foreign intelligence agencies and Judeo-Christian organisations. Sikh Empire never existed until Marathas had driven out Afghans out of Punjab and eclipsed the Mughal Empire. Had Raghunath Rao led Maratha army against Ahmed Shah Abdali instead of Vishwas Rao and Bhausaheb, Marathas would have won 3rd battle of Panipat. Family Politics dominated Peshwa family and this led to decline of Maratha Empire. Falsified are being promoted by KZbin videos. White European Jews aim at defeating Hindu nationalism. This is a fake, Anti Hindu video.

@@visalakshimahadevan612 you are a moron. There was no way raghunath rao could have defeated abdali singlehandedly. Marathas like now were very jingoinst and chauvinistic back then (apprehensive of other hindu rulers _ Rajputs, Sikhs, jats and in South ) So when abdali came no body sided with rao and was trampled easily. The maratha history is very small less than 100 years and effective rule lasted for 40 years. This again was made possible when Aurangzeb died and mughals became weak. The "Valorised maratha history" is to instill a sense of identity and pride by upper caste Marathi political elite in marathas . This identity crisis is because maharashtra like South India does not have middle castes like North India in large no and its culture is neither purely Aryan read North India nor Dravidian read South India. This produced in Marathi elite in 1850s a sense of cultural identity crisis though they were better off compared to other states in terms of secular indicators. So the elite straw picked history and Valorised shivaji to create a distinct identity different from north and south This started with leaders like Tilak from 1885 which was mixed with Hinduism (the seed of Hindutva was sown). That's why Hindutva frenzy originated by RSS in Maharashtra which remains its citadel even now. And now it has become political.

The Jat leader advised against direct war without eatablished supply lines but Maratha leader did not listen. So Jats backtracked. They even took their civilians like families with them to the battle field. Their supply lines got cut as Awadh and Rohilkhand North Central Indian muslim rulers came to help Durrani Abdali. So in the end Marathas soldiers had to fight empty stomach bec. Durrani kept on waiting for their supplies to get depleted. In the battle Marathas fought very well but they lost bec. they had not kept a reserve back up force which shud be part of such battles. Also, their modern long range artillery which could easily breacg forts in Delhi was not effective in short range Battles with Afghans. Maratha leader Bhau arrogance and stupid mistake cost them that battle. Later on, Marathas attacked Rohilkhand, destroyed the city and even dug up the graves of all dead muslims who had helped Durrani feeding those traitors bones to dogs.

European war technology was advancing... The battle could be 1 British soldier equivalent to 10 Marathi warrior in long ranges, 1:2 at close range, and 1:1 close contact. Excellent Video !!! Very Informative.. there is NO doubt that the brutal & fanatic Islamic Mughal rule in India faced stiff resistance at different periods from the great RAJPUT warriors, fierce AHOM warriors from Assam & from Punjab the brave SIKH warriors...India's strength lies in Unity in Diversity. Rightly did the great Hindi Poet Bhushana, who forsook the royal favours of the Mughal court to come over to Shivaji to record his glories, he sang :-“काशी की कला जाती, मथुरा की मसजीद बनती, अगर शिवाजी ना होते तो सबकी सुन्नत होती.” meaning : (Had not there been Shivaji, Kashi would have lost its culture,Mathura would have been turned into a mosque and all would have been circumcised.) If not for Shivaji and the Marathas, there would have existed a continuous Islamic belt from Morocco to Indonesia. What addition of 1 billion more adherents to Islam would have done to the world power balance or what would have happened to Indian legacy like yoga, ayurveda, music, art and philosophy, is not difficult to guess…. It is worthwhile examining the 'what if' of Indias history, Aurengzeb, Akbars great great grandson, had embarked on the 'Islamisation' of India. The Marathas, inspired by Shivaji, fought Aurengzeb and saved India from following the fate of Persia. The proof of Maratha victory lies in the fact that Aurengzeb lies buried, not in Lahore /Delhi or Agra , but near Aurangabad in good old Maharashtra... Indian history before Shivaji's advent reads like a chronicle of military disasters. Shivaji changed all that. He used Guerilla Tactics very effectively. Shivaji, as a great warrior & visionary laid a strong and solid foundation that after his death in 1680, there was a series of battles fought between Marathas and Mughals from 1681 to 1707 known as 'War of 27 years' and ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707. The Marathas eventually emerged victorious and consolidated their lost territories. This was further expanded by the Peshwas. The Maratha empire reached its peak in summer of 1758 with the conquest of Attock, which is banks of Indus river in Pakistan today. Its eastern frontier was today’s Orissa, being ruled by Raghuji Bhosale of Nagpur. Maratha armies had also reached upto Murshidabad, but then retreated and settled for tribute from Bengal and control of Orissa. To the south, in 1758, territories upto the fort of Gurramkonda in Kadappah district were held. Also, Tanjore (Thanjavur) was under Marathas, but that was a different line. In 1761, the PANIPAT war was lost to the Afghans but Marathas RECOVERED quickly like phoenix bird within 10 years and brought the whole of North Indian again under their control during the 1770's under leadership of Madhavrao Peshwa.. Eventually, the Marathas grew stronger and fought the British in three Anglo-Maratha Wars (1775-82, 1803-05, 1817-18), In the First Anglo-Maratha War (1775-1782) the Marathas emerged Victorious. A Vijay Stambh (Victory Pillar) erected to commemorate Maratha victory over British is located at Vadgaon/Wadgaon Maval, close to the city of Pune. The 2nd and 3rd were subsequently lost and British established themselves which was followed by the Uprising of 1857 . (By the way, just for your G.K, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is also considered as the 'Father of the Indian Navy' AND Apart from Jijabai, 2 well known Women personalities emerging from the Maratha empire were Devi AHILYABAI HOLKAR and RANI LAXMIBAI of Jhansi also known as Manikarnika.) @@ashkenazi0000 Mukund Kumar My point was every empire has its good and bad, life is not like Ramayan were it is good vs evil, granted the Mugals did damage but you just can't ignore the contribution they did to India. And one last thing if Mugals really wanted India to be a Muslim county they could have easily done so they ruled for many years after all. Now come to forced conversation, in the war in that time you win or lose. If you lose you die, if you win you will kill the loser. Aurangzeb did something different, he did not kill the opposing soldiers immediately when he won. He first capture them and told them that if you accept Islam you will get a new life and don't then you will die like any other soldiers in the battlefield. It was is way of giving mercy unlike other rulers who immediately kill the opposers. It is always important to know the whole story or less we will only see in one perspective. I gave the example of Ramayan earlier but even in Ramayan, Raavan was a great rule who ruled Lanka with great prosperity. He captured Sita because of what happened to her sister, if anyone attack your dear sibling even it was his/her fault it will be in your nature to side with your siblings. Even in Raavan's death Ram told this brother how great of a ruler Raavan was. Ramayan says one of the most important life lesson, you may be a hero in your story but a villain in others.

Sikhs fought Mughals and Afghans, but it's one thing to fight and another to win. Only force that actually defeated the mighty Mughal Empire were Marathas. Actual credit goes to Chhatrapati Shivaji and latter day Peshwa family. Chhatrapati Shivaji exploited the weakness of the Mughal Empire and Anti Hindu Zealotry of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, and brought it down. Chhatrapati Shivaji taught his son shambhaji how to defeat the Mughals. His sons Shambhaji and Rajaram, showed character and finally defeated the mighty Mughal Empire. Peshwa Baji Rao drove the nail into the final coffin belonging to Mughal Empire.

Aaaayyy, my people~ Or, I guess, the people who probably conquered and/or absorbed the peoples some of my ancestors belonged to, resulting in me associating a part of my identity with them despite my actual people most likely being mere subjects of the Marathas themselves... but that's not as validating to say. (Also I gotta say it, it's pronounced with more of a hard "t" sound, like "thyme", rather than a soft "th" sound, like in "thought".)
@HuckleberryHim6 жыл бұрын
There are three “t” sounds at work here. The one used in the video is a voiceless dental fricative, like in “thistle”. This sound is usually unaspirated in English and exists in Indo-Aryan languages too, although as you point out, it is not in the word Maratha. The other two sounds are “hard” t’s. They are the alveolar voiceless stop and the retroflex voiceless stop. Both should be aspirated and are quite similar sounding, even though technically neither one exists in the other language(s), but they are good approximations of each other.

You know, it was actually the fault of both Shah jahan and Aurangzeb for instilling the downfall of the empire. Had shah jahan managed the treasury more carefully and allowed religious tolerance, the revolts wouldn't have started in the first place. And if they hadn't started, then aurangzeb, his son, wouldn't have spent HIS life fighting the rebels, thus depleting the treasury even more, and then India wouldn't have been invaded by Nader shah which was the "nail in the coffin" for the mughal empire. It makes me angry to think that the emperors couldve avoided this downfall by just being more tolerant religiously, yet they didnt. They went against the ideal akbar had set to build the empire, and they paid the price for it.

Maratha goal was Hind Swaraj meaning self rule for Hindus. Marathas got divided into five factions and British played each against other. Some of the faction alone could have defeated British but they preferred to remain silent like Gwalior which had the best trained modern army trained by the mercenary french hired by them. Gwalior was among the state that was among friendly state with British and helped them in 1857 during sepoy mutiny. These independent princely states controlled around half of land in India until independence in 1947. After 1857 mutiny, such independent princely states were used as bulwark by British against mass uprising by Indians.

It is true... 'Those who do not learn from History are doomed to repeat it.' The Mughal rule began in 1526 with Babur's accession to the throne, and ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707. Overall the Mughals ruled northern part of India for approx 181 years and ruined India. The Mughal empire rapidly disintegrated after Aurangzebs death and was replaced by the Maratha Confederacy. At its peak the Maratha empire covered much of South Asia, with a territory of over 2.8 million km² and stretched from Tamil Nadu in the south, to Peshawar & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan in the north, and Bengal Subah in the east. To understand the rise and prominence of the Marathas lets dig a little deeper : There is NO doubt that the brutal & fanatic Islamic Mughal rule in India faced stiff resistance at different periods from the great RAJPUT warriors, fierce AHOM warriors from Assam & from Punjab the brave SIKH warriors...rightly did the great Hindi Poet Bhushana, who forsook the royal favours of the Mughal court to come over to Shivaji to record his glories, sang :-“काशी की कला जाती, मथुरा की मसजीद बनती, अगर शिवाजी ना होते तो सबकी सुन्नत होती.” meaning : (Had not there been Shivaji, Kashi would have lost its culture,Mathura would have been turned into a mosque and all would have been circumcised.) If not for Shivaji and the Marathas, there would have existed a continuous Islamic belt from Morocco to Indonesia. The proof of Maratha victory lies in the fact that Aurangzeb lies buried, not in Lahore /Delhi or Agra, but near Aurangabad in good old Maharashtra... Indian history before Shivaji's advent reads like a chronicle of military disasters. Shivaji changed all that. He used Guerilla Tactics (hit and run) very effectively. Shivaji, as a great warrior & visionary laid a solid foundation such, that after his death in 1680, there was a series of battles fought between Marathas and Mughals from 1681 to 1707 known as 'War of 27 years' and ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707, about 2.5 million of Aurangzeb's army were killed during the Mughal-Maratha War of 27 years. The Marathas eventually emerged victorious and this was followed by the phase of rapid expansion of the Maratha Empire for the next 50 years under patronage of Shahu and his appointed Peshwas Baji Rao I and Balaji Baji Rao. Chatrapati Shivaji is also credited for the laying the foundation of the Indian Navy. He appointed Kanoji Angre the chief of the Maratha Navy who fought against the British, Dutch and Portuguese naval interests on the coasts of India during the 18th century and became their greatest enemy on sea, so much was he dreaded that the British and Europeans labeled him a pirate. He was instrumental bringing about a considerable change in Naval Warfare by introducing a Blue-water navy in those times. The Maratha empire reached its peak in summer of 1758 with the conquest of Attock, which is banks of Indus river in Pakistan today*(check Notes below). Maratha Empire's eastern frontier was today’s Orissa, being ruled by Raghuji Bhosale of Nagpur. In 1761, the 3rd battle of PANIPAT war was lost to the Afghans but they RECOVERED quickly like phoenix bird from ashes and within 10 years (during the 1770's) brought the whole of North India in their control under the able leadership of Madhavrao Peshwa. Marathas also comprehensively defeated the Nizam of Hyderabad and kept Hyder Ali- Tipu Sultan of Mysore in serious check. During this phase, Pune, the seat of Peshwas, flourished as a center of Hindu learning and traditions. The Confederacy is also credited for developing many of the nation’s important cities like Pune, Baroda under Gaikwads, Indore under Holkars and Gwalior under Shinde's or Scindia's. The 2nd and 3rd were subsequently lost and British established themselves which was followed by the Uprising of 1857. Thus after a prolonged fight with the Marathas and with the Sikhs in Punjab the British firmly established themselves as the de-facto rulers of India. As mentioned above, the British were technologically superior to the Marathas..and hence they were at an advantage. (-By the way, just for your G.K, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered today as the 'Father of the Indian Navy'AND apart from Jijabai-mother of Shivaji, the other 2 well known Women personalities emerging from the Maratha Confederacy were Devi AHILYABAI HOLKAR from Indore, Maharani Tarabai and RANI LAXMIBAI of Jhansi also known as Manikarnika. * "Lahore, Multan, Kashmir and other subahs on this side of Attock are under our rule for the most part, and places which have not come under our rule we shall soon bring under us. Ahmad Shah Durrani's son Timur Shah Durrani and Jahan Khan have been pursued by our troops, and their troops completely looted. Both of them have now reached Peshawar with a few broken troops . . . So Ahmad Shah Durrani has returned to Kandahar with some 12-14 thousand broken troops.. Thus all have risen against Ahmad who has lost control over the region. We have decided to extend our rule up to Kandahar." - Raghunathrao's letter to the Maratha Peshwa, 4 May 1758.

Yes. It is correct depiction of history but I felt somehow British shouldn’t have won last battle which ruined country for next three centuries otherwise India would have been more powerful than any country in world now.

How so? Without the western innovations and technology India would in fact be worse off, India would not of existed it would be several smaller kingdoms slaughtering each other rather like most of Africa.

@@NightshadeX85 no, britishers left india scattered into more than 500 provinces , there was a man SARDAR VALLABH PATEL ( see the statue of unity ) He united the whole country without any violence (unlike bismark did in germany to unite it) . Britishers also did the partitiion of India. When bririshers came to india they landed on world's most wealthy place which contributed 23% of world GDP at that time and what they did , they looted India. And you say about invensions , many important invensions are Indian and copied by britishers like the first plane, you can search on google that who was SHIVKAR BAPUJI TALPADE , he made first plane in modern history and wright brothers took that plane did some changes to make it look different and said that it was made by them . Gravity is also found by BHASKARACHARYA , 500 yrs before newton and there are many more examples likes misiles,ships,etc are first made by indians and then copied in west and due to western colonialisation it became famous . India is father of knowledge in every field like in midical science also .

@@NightshadeX85 they could have hired the Britishers as they were rich enough. Btw ancient Vedic technology is still the fundamentals of many modern Inventions.
