What an excellent history lesson and conversation. A very informed and honest framing of events. Especially liked Ben's correct analysis of Chomsky's past statements about JFK. Interestingly Michael Parenti came out with his book 'inventing reality' 2 years before 'manufacturing consent' yet Chomsky gets all the credit...

This series is especially fascinating for me because I lived through this time as a young man just graduating from high school in 1961 and going into the Air Force where I worked in missions for the NSA. All of this was going on around us and we knew nothing about it. I saw how the U.S. engineered the assassination of Diem in Vietnam although I had responsibility for Middle East and Soviet intelligence I was horrified at the time that my country would meddle in that way. I was really naive. I was on duty in the Mediterranean when JFK was assassinated and believed all the bull shit about how it happened but over the years much of this information comes out and I so much appreciate all the work these guys put into getting at the truth. Sometimes I feel like such a fool for being taken in but none of this stuff was available in 1961. Thank you Ben and Aaron and Seamus.

"People" outside Indonesia keep saying we, Indonesians are trying so hard to get Papua because of the gold. Truth like the panels said, we don't even know there is gold there. We, Indonesians are just trying to liberate Papua from the Dutch when they refuse to get out from our territory. Papuans are part of our independence youths who oath to be part of a country called Indonesia back in 1928.. That is why when Indonesia independence in 1945 happened and all lands under Indonesia were liberated except Papua. We tried to get Papua by using diplomacy, but it's not working, Imperialist refuse to do it by saying Papua is not part of Indonesia. And for Indonesia, liberating Papua is part of the ideology. We don't aware of the gold, we just walk the talk of 1928 oaths!! Hence, for us *PAPUA IS PART OF INDONESIA. PAPUANS ARE INDONESIANS* That is the oath for unity from Indonesians!!

Truman had no sense & especially of fairness... This is his quote; "If we see that the Germans are winning, we should help Russia, if the Russians are winning, we must help the Germans. Let them kill each other, as many as possible" - Harry S Truman in 1941 And the US continues this doctrine, only now it has chosen Ukraine instead of Germany. Please remember that the same man decided to use nuclear weapons when Japan stood on the last leg! 🇸🇰 “Ak uvidíme, že víťazia Nemci, mali by sme pomôcť Rusku, ak budú vyhrávať Rusi musíme pomôcť Nemcom, nech sa navzájom čo najviac vykynožia” - Harry S Truman in 1941 A v tejto doktríne USA pokračujú naďalej, len teraz si vybrali miesto Nemecka Ukrajinu. Nezabudnime že americký prezident Truman použil jadrové zbrane v Japonsku.

China happy to use this strategy today. Not like they have to do much. Truman was a Senator at this point & responsible for oversight of all R&D in the US military. 'Imperialism the Highest Form of Capitalism' V. I. Lenin is the best short read on this. Thanks to Aaron Good for this richly informative session. Seamus G. Please don't casually talk about 'the Natives'. Ben, thanks for hosting. The views are too small. I could get more views demonstrating how I can't do pottery. This should be heard in Indonesia and Africa and Latin America - well everywhere. Would use of some hashtags in the title help? Not suggesting you dilute your serious intent but there are always things that can be done to reach more people. Good luck ! Noting you're going to cover Indonesia please don't leave out the Obama connection - the role of his stepfather in the post coup military and then Standard Oil and his mother working for the State Department (?) gathering information on remaining rural community leaders in the mopping up stage of the CIA slaughter.

If you liked Lenin’s “Imperialism” I think you might love economist Michael Hudson’s “Super Imperialism: The Economic Strategy of American Empire”. Hudson’s work is very critical of capitalism, oligarchy, and the neoliberal economists whose theoretical assumptions now dominate all western economic discussion. Look him up. He is now in his 80s but is still very sharp, actively publishing his rhetorical but well argued economic books quite frequently still, and does plenty of video interviews and discussions here on KZbin, appearing several times per week on different channels. He’s terrific and his understanding of economics is unorthodox in today’s neoliberal dominated world, but we’ll argued and convincing (to me and plenty of people like me apparently!). Enjoy.

A move which helped boosting the party's political legitimacy and reach unlike anything before.

Sadly, that is the furthest any Indonesian president can get without actually going full left. Very similar to how Jokowi practically: 1. enforces semi-nationalizing Freeport gold mines which now spreads to even more commodities, 2. set up a functioning nationwide health and education coverage which had never existed before, 3. building an ever closer relationship with China, etc which you'd expect any self-respecting socialist government would do... but stops short of proudly declaring himself as a socialist/man of the left and prefers that everyone is still hush-hush about 1965 🤣. I don't know man, probably has something to do without that Javanese trait of always keeping it moderate and not offend anybody. But the saddest thing of all, you and I belong to an extremely nanoscopic group of folks in Indonesia who actually give a sh*t about this ancient history. 🤣🤣🤣

JFK was the ruler of a segregated state and he didn't want to change that, so to place him in a pedestal as this great man means that Americans, even if they consider themselves critics of American imperialism, can't scape that blackhole. How can you disregard that. JFK started the policy of using the militaries of the Spanish speaking -Latin Americans are just the same thing as Americans, non indigenous people- countries in this continent against the population, of course with all the support of their Latin counterparts. Chomsky is right on making clear that JFK wasn't different because he was killed for disputes with others on the ruling class on how to maintain hegemony. I found Chomsky cynical. He was presented as the greatest intellectual of our time, that's very American of him, Gaston Garcia Cantu in Las Invasiones Norteamericanas en Mexico, published in 1968, wrote many of the same things Chomsky talks about but he as an American was in the limelight. He exposes all this US crimes , but he was chocked when China led an ecology summit about four years ago and the US denied to participate, according to him denying they place as world leaders, what was he talking about, what credentials could the US have to lead the world about anything other than explotation . He has said that is understandable that Europeans invaded Palestine because of what they wrongly call anti-Semitism, that can only fit in a colonial mind and has been a constant argument to justify colonialism, in what way are the problems of Europeans the problems of other people. He's a harsh critic of the USSR but as much as he dislikes many things about the US he said he wouldn't leave because it was his home as an American, if I'm not wrong he's a first generation of Russian origin it seems that he really agrees that his family left Russia, if he never left the US was because he was an intellectual sconce in the ruling class. And he said that it was nothing wrong that the US was invading a part of Syria, and it still is, and that Assad was a horrible regime. Assad has opposed the Israel settler state, he denied to shake the hand of an ex Israel regime ruler, and stood up to US impositions, and the US has committed terrible crimes in Syria, they are not only stealing oil but also wheat seeds that are the result of the knowledge of immemorial generations of farmers, how many people have died because of this invasion. Of courser his work is important because of all the information he had accessed to and compiled.

Will we ever get an answer from the good Dr. Good as to why JFK twisted Martin Luther King’s arm to oust Jack O’Dell from the SCLC? Could it be that JFK was unable to resist the pressure from J. Edgar Hoover , regarding O’Dell ?

Hearing you impersonate Kennedy makes me nostalgic for Kennedy. I was born in 1975 🤔 I don’t think we’ve ever recovered from events like John’s assassination, in a long echoing bunker tunnel kind of way; stupid spook stink wafting through it like a sulphuric fart.

Will Americans vote for RFK jnr? Do you think anyone else has spent as much time thinking about how to bring down the deep state? We need to all pray he’s alive for the primary.
