My grandmother was born and raised in Edinburgh. I remember her talking about the bombs hitting Edinburgh. According to her, it was a nightly thing and they would have to go to the shelters every evening for a long time. One day she got fed up with having to go and refused to leave her apartment. Her mother and she got into an awful argument but she refused to budge. That night a bomb fell on her street and shattered every window in their apartment with her hiding under the bed. I think she went to the shelters every night after that. Those were awful and depressing times to hear her tell it.

They still have some air raid shelters around Edinburgh, one in Liberton and also they use as a shelter in king George park, by cannon mills. There was a train tunnel that connected to Waverley. My grandma lived through the blitz in London, still alive and love talking to her about that era. My great grandpa flew future king that abdicated (Edward VIII) , in 1917 in Glasgow and was reprimanded for doing such, but received a cigar box for his experience.

Does it make you feel like a big man to insult a 13 year old?
