- Is born. - Helps slaves. - Kills proslavery white-bread basic boys. - Delivers the most hardcore summary of all US History, both past, present, and future, in one sentence: “I, John Brown, am quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood.” - Refuses to elaborate further. - Dies. For someone with one of the most generic American names, he truly is a man of all time. o7

@@communisttrash8590 The slavers should be put in prison, not killed. Who was he and who are you to decide who gets to live and who gets to die? This way of thinking is no better than what the slavers themselves were thinking. Killing people is bad for any reason. Ever heard of "violence is never the answer"? I guess you're the kind of person who would gas prisoners huh. Attacking and killing anyone, no matter the intent, is still murder and should be punished. The road to hell is paved with good intentions afterall. Of course this guy had good intentions, the problem is he had an extremely poor execution.

@@Dell-ol6hb Well, I don't really care about your opinion. What I said is my personal belief. Nobody should be killed for any reason, only punished. Of course, in war killing is a must, it's different when you have to kill so you don't get killed, but I never said I liked war. Surprisingly, most of the Wehrmacht was comprised regular German citizens, forcefully conscripted. No different from the Allied soldiers. Yes, I know it's shocking but in war there's never a black and white, nothing is as simple as "shoot Germans cuz they evil and we are pure and always good". It was the officials who made these orders, but the vast majority of the soldiers who were fighting on the front were simple men, on both sides. They didn't deserve to die because of the agressive expansionism of the regime that lead them.

However, you're a moron and wrong since Europe at the time already considered slavery barbaric and disgusting, hence the gradual abolition of such practice. Europe has gone through a century of enlightenment thought and influence, and was seeing a reaffirmation of these ideas with the spread of anarchism and socialism.

"Terrorist" is the one who instills terror, the American rebels were terrorists for the English, Simon Bolivar or San Martin were terrorists for the Spanish Empire, the Jewish militias in Poland were terrorists for the Germans just like the Irish both of the pre-independence Ira, Che guevara was a terrorist both for the Latin American dictators and yes, even if they call him terrorists there are people who for them are synonymous with freedom And yes, that also counts for those extremist groups of a certain religion

Holy shit, the Hero's journey applied to a real life story of someones existence. I never thought I'd hear a story that so perfectly sounds like it could be an extension of Oedipus. He started with a heros heart, wanting his whole life to free slaves. His tragic flaw was a lack of knowledge, or of deeper thinking towards the results of his actions. He knew not what he did, but what he wanted to do. His Superego was so large it drowned out the voices of his ego and ID. That is to say his moral compass was so strong, he couldn't keep touch with the reality of the outcomes of his actions, and clearly cared little for his own well being, seeking only to do what felt right to him.

For the people concerned about him marrying such a young woman...people didn't live long back then and a woman marrying in her 30s, which is the norm now, would have been seen as very strange. I know someone will come along and say "that doesn't justify it" but you're using presentism and again ignoring the fact that people died young, and you tried to have as many kids as you could before it got more dangerous to your body to do so. Yeah it sucks, but people had to adapt. I in no way think that sort of thing should happen nowadays. Our healthcare is much better and we also know that a woman's pelvis isn't fully stable until your late teens early 20s.

Glory, glory, hallelujah, Glory, glory, hallelujah, Glory, glory, hallelujah, His soul goes marching on. He’s gone to be a soldier in the army of the Lord, He’s gone to be a soldier in the army of the Lord, He’s gone to be a soldier in the army of the Lord, But his soul goes marching on. Glory, glory, hallelujah, Glory, glory, hallelujah, Glory, glory, hallelujah, His soul goes marching on. The stars of heaven now are looking kindly down, The stars of heaven now are looking kindly down, The stars of heaven now are looking kindly down, On the grave of old John Brown. Glory, glory, hallelujah, Glory, glory, hallelujah, Glory, glory, hallelujah, His soul goes marching on.
