Seriously, if he keeps up with it then in 5 years that kid will be unreal. He recognised the issues with the heat treat but probably due to time constraints took a couple of gambles that didn't pay off. Next time I hope he thinks to anneal the blade to reset the metal and work on the heat treats again.

This test is significant because historically, when medieval knights were attacked, it was usually by battering rams constructed of CCA pressure treated fence post. If their swords hadn't held up during these encounters it meant almost certain death for our honorable knights.

Only 18 he's got nothing to be ashamed of, as a matter of fact he should be very proud of what he accomplished, very few 18 yr. olds would be able to make it to the final round, and considering he never made a sword before he now has some good OJT and has learned some valuable information on what not to do and what to do, from here on he will be flying skyward with no limit in sight! I predict a prosperous career ahead of this young man!

That's probably the most beautiful Damascus pattern I've seen on this show.

Truly impressive making swords like that at 18. He can only learn and grow from here on out. I could barely sharpen a pencil never mind making a whole sword lol

"Broadsword?" "Are those...what are those helmets?!"... the "is-it-historically-accurate" nitpicker in me can't cope with this unholy combination of actual history and d&d-inspired fantasy.

First sword he made, 18 years old, & made it all the way to the final challenge. He probably beat out smiths twice his age! He's got nothin' to be ashamed of!
