Here in Western Australia there are many sunken ships with treasure aboard. The Government made it illegal to keep any treasure found, with zero compensation. So in a state that abounds in gold, it's easy to illegally melt down small amounts of coins and pass it off as melted nuggets. All historic context is lost. We need a change in the law to allow the treasure to be brought out of the sea.

As a Canadian born and raised here, with a summer cottage not very far from Oak Island. I know the government will take any treasure that is found. The government will probably compensate for all the money invested to bring up anything if found. I can tell you these are the roughest waters in the world. This is where the military goes to test sea equipment cause you can be sure of rough, rocky, waters. There is an unbelievable amount of sunken ships in this area treasure hunters are always after. About 5 yrs ago divers found a massive treasure in a shipwreck in this area. The divers tried to keep it quiet, so as they could keep the bounty. After a week of diving the police arrested these divers and took out 4 Brinks truck worth of treasure. If anyone knows about this story off the coast of, Money Point, in Cape Breton Island, please let me know what was recovered from this ship. This story never made the news and I don't know what happened with the divers or the treasure. If anyone can finish this story let me know. Love this show, God Bless 🙏.

Wow!! Update us if you ever find out what happened. It's absolutely criminal that it's illegal for people to keep treasure they find. People pay enough in taxes to the government as it is, it makes me sick to know you can't even keep something you find in the ocean if it's worth something.

@@SemajResarf By law, it should go to Spain since it doesn't matter how long ago the ship sank, it was still in their possesion on a Spanish ship. moral of the story is if you ever find treasure steal it and melt it down and claim scrap on it to make your monsy, then on your death bed confess to your crime to gain notoriety to finding the treasure. i bet they already found the oak island treasure and the history channel took it and if forcing these guys to make 15 seasons of this show to reveal a tiny amount of treasure and most if not all of it was placed by the producers of this show.

What really bugs me is that when treasure hunters take time and effort to find something, someone else always thinks that the spoils should come to them when they never got involved in the first place. If governments wanted the items so badly, they should get up off their official but and get to work finding these things. To just let someone else do all the work, and spend all the money to do it, is just entitled BS IMO.

What I don’t understand is why if someone risks their life diving this deep which is not as easy as videos make it seem, are not entitled to their finds. If these countries of the sunken ships and treasure haven’t put in the work to find it in this long why should they have any right to it?

Jack Kutz’s book titled “Mystery of New Mexico,” tells of several treasures all over the State. One chapter is of, “Seven Million Bucks In The Boot Heel.” I wish these treasure hunters would look into the Skeleton Canyon area, southeast of the town of Rodeo. Skeleton Canyon is also the surrender point of Geronimo. The Estrada Gang joined with The Hughes Gang to rob the Monterrey Mint in Mexico. They were successful and on the way out of Monterrey they also successfully looted the Cathedral of more gold and silver. They also took a jewel studded statue of The Virgin Mary. Most was buried either in Skull Canyon or Skeleton Canyon, NM. Hughes had his gang ambush the Estrada Gang to keep the treasure for themselves. Each member of the Hughes Gang met violent deaths. Two were hung that tried to buy their lives out of the noose with the buried treasure secret location but were not believed. News traveled slow in those days and when word of the the looting in Monterrey Mexico actually reached town there was a mad scramble to go look for the treasure.
