@TC G How was she influential that is what I would like to know. I am sorry that she died but the book is a total fraud. She wrote a few pages in pencil then her father finished it off in ball point pen. When the pen had not been perfected and sold on the market in Europe til 1954. This is mandatory reading in US schools! Why?

In middle school, we actually read another similar diary from another era. It was from a girl living in Sarajevo and the conflict that they were seeing at that time. It was comparable to Anne Frank's, but the bigger meaning was that once again, even with the knowledge of history that we boast ourselves on, atrocities are still affecting vulnerable young women even in our current day and age.

Chloe wilson He did not finish it. If you read the diary you can see that the last time Anne wrote in it was 1 August 1944 and they were arrested on 4 August. Her father edited the diary because Anne talked negative about her mother and talked about sexuality.

@Josef Goebbels I agree with you. Anne wrote in pencil in her diary but her father Otto finished it off in ball point pen exactly as you said. What could a young woman know about the world when they were in hiding? Her father was ruthless as far as I am concerned. I do feel sorry for her dying though!

My 9 year old daughter told me all about Anne Frank this morning at the dining table during breakfast, which she had learnt about the day before at school. She could barely eat because she was SO amazed and intrigued by Anne and her story. Although I was also born and raised here in NZ, unfortunately I had never heard about her during history at school or elsewhere and thought I'd google her at work today. What an amazing story. I will definitely be reading her book/diary soon. So good to see they're teaching young children of today about very inspiring younger people, Like Anne who went through such hardship and became a Legend.

It’s horrifying to think about how many diaries, journals, letters and other documents were never found or were destroyed. Anne’s diary is that rare one that actually survived all these years. And this doesn’t just go for the Holocaust. But also for so many historical events that we may never see another side to since the writings were destroyed.
